Red Sox World Series Odds

2009 Article:

The Boston Red Sox have been ranked by a lot of different sport sources as the second best team heading into the 2009 MLB season (behind the Yankees) and you can easily argue them to be the number one ranked team. There is a reason the odds of the Red Sox winning the 2009 World Series are set low at +800. The Red Sox should get solid hitting from players like Jason Bay, David Ortiz, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia to name a few which will make it hard for any team to match up to them batting wise. The chances of the Red Sox winning the World Series in 2009 will probably be on the shoulders of their pitching staff. Boston has a great, deep pitching rotation that on paper can match any other American League team. Put their solid starting pitchers together with a good bullpen and a closer like Johnathan Papelbon and you are looking at a team that has good odds to win the 2009 World Series.

The Sportsbooks have set the odds of the Boston Red Sox to win the 2009 World Series at +800 (meaning a $100 bet pays out $900). I think these odds are set pretty fair looking at the Red Sox line up. As much as I don’t like saying this, it is hard to argue that the 2009 AL champ will come out of the east division, in either New York or Boston . With that being said if the Boston Red Sox do make it to the World Series it will have been a hard fought regular season and playoffs which may wear them out somewhat. I personally think that the Red Sox have a great chance of winning the World Series this upcoming season and at +800 World Series odds I think it is a good bet to take.
