Blue Jays World Series Odds
2009 Article:
The Toronto Blue Jays are a totally different team than last year, mainly because of the loss of starting pitchers. In 2009 the Blue Jays will be with out stud pitcher A.J. Burnett who signed with the Yankees in the off season and have lost young starters Dustin McGowan and Shaun Marcum both to surgery (McGowan will return sometime in the 2009 season). The odds of the Toronto Blue Jays to win the World Series would probably be a lot better if they had all three of the pitchers mentioned in their starting rotation because they have one of the best bullpens in the American League. A lot of pressure will be on the bats of two young players in Adam Lind and Travis Snider who both have shown they can hit. With those two up and comers and veterans Veron Wells and Alex Rios the Blue Jays could be a good hitting team.
Although the Jays do have potential to be a good team if they get some good pitching, I think the odds of them winning the 2009 World Series should be a bit worse than the Sportsbook have them set at. With a division like they are in with power houses like Boston , New York and Tampa it will be very tough for them to even have a sniff at the playoffs. Before looking at the Blue Jays odds of winning the World Series in 2009 I was thinking the odds would be at around +6000 or so. With that said I do think the Blue Jays will surprise some people and win more games than they lose in 2009. If you are looking for a long shot team to win the 2009 World Series picking the Blue Jays may be a good choice as long as their bats get going and their starting pitchers stay consistent.
