Updated Canadiens Cup Odds: Montreal will face the Boston Bruins (who finished 1st in the East) in the first round of 2009 Stanley Cup playoffs. Montreal has dominated Boston in the playoffs recently and have a shot at upsetting the Eastern Conference champs. Original Article: At the time of writing this article the Montreal Canadiens are 16 games into the 2008/2009 NHL season and sit with a 10-4-2 record. This puts the Canadiens in 5th place in the Eastern Conference (with fewer games played then the rest). Montreal has looked pretty dominate this year, with a few exceptions (including losing to the Maple Leafs in a Hockey Night in Canada game).

As of November 18th PartyBets has the odds of the Montreal Canadiens winning the 2008/2009 Stanley Cup at 7-1. This means that a $10 bet on the Canadiens to win the Stanley Cup would pay out $70 if they won. These 7-1 odds are the third lowest, with Detroit and San Jose having a bit lower odds. With the Eastern Conference being a touch weaker this year there is a great chance the Canadiens can make it out of the Eastern Conference in the playoffs.

The Montreal Canadiens are stacked with solid forwards, some good defence and possibly a top three goaltender in Carey Price. This is definitely a team that can place in the top of Eastern Conference in the regular season and make a far run in the playoffs.
