Original Article: The New Jersey Devils have proved in the 2009 season that once again they are a dominant team with a solid chance of winning the Stanley Cup. Leading the Atlantic Division and second in the Eastern Conference, the Devils have recorded a 45-23-7 record. With 9 games remaining the Devils have lit the red light 225 times and have been scored on 181 times. Helping score the goals for the Devils has been Zach Parise who has had an excellent season. He currently sits at 41 goals and 88 points, only 9 goals away from hitting the prestige 50 goal mark. Helping up front has also been strong play from Jamie Langenbrunner (63 pts), Patrick Elias (77 pts), and Travis Zajac (59 pts). Although New Jersey has a tremendous chance to win the Stanley Cup this year, the real story has been the play from goaltender Martin Brodeur. Marty has only played 22 games this year after an injury that sat him out most of the season. When returning the superstar recorded back to back shutouts, helping increase his win column. Recently, Brodeur broke Patrick Roy’s record for most wins by a goaltender at 551, and currently is only 2 shutouts away from tying Terry Sawchuck’s record for most shutouts at 103. Martin Brodeur will be a key success in this year’s 2009 playoff run, and shows no sign of slowing down. With 22 games played he currently has a record of 15-5-2.
The New Jersey Devils have an all around great team with a tremendous amount of experience. It has not been too long since they last hoisted the Stanley Cup (2003) and they have a great shot of doing it again in 2009. With a similar team and great odds at +600 a bet on the New Jersey Devils to win the Stanley Cup would be a wise decision. With odds placed at +600 for the Devils to win the Cup this means a bet of $100 would payout a solid $700. A great payout for a team who knows how to win, and will have home ice advantage for the majority of the playoffs. Betting on the New Jersey Devils to win the Stanley Cup in 2009 is a profitable bet.
