Doosan Bears vs. Hanwha Eagles Pick – KBO June 12, 2020

The Doosan Bears did their best, but couldn’t get the best of the NC Dinos over the course of three games. They did manage to win what was their most impressive game of the season in that series at NC Park, though. In the second game of that series, the Bears dismantled the Dinos by a score of 9-1.

There was no push back from the Dinos in that one, but they woke up on Thursday. The Dinos won the rubber-match, 7-5, as a comeback bid by the Bears came up short. The Bears connected for a 3-run deep ball in the top of the 8th inning to make it a 7-5 game. There was only an out on the board when the Bears converted for 3 runs. An opportunity to complete the comeback was there for the Bears.

The Bears lost two of three games at NC Park, but it was an entertaining time nonetheless. They aren’t going anywhere, and it isn’t going to be the last time the Dinos have to play hard to beat the Bears. The Bears are still the defending champs and everyone in the league has to remember that. You have to respect the champions. It was the third championship for the Bears since 2016.

Meanwhile, the Hanwha Eagles are having a really tough go of it in 2020. They’re coming off another loss, as they offered no resistance against the Lotte Giants. The Giants swept the Eagles, as they took advantage of a bad squad. The offense was stagnant for the Eagles. They scored just 5 runs across three games. That will have to improve significantly to keep up with the Bears on Friday.

The Eagles enter Friday with a record of 7-26. Forget about catching the Dinos or getting close to the top of the standings. It’s still early, but the Eagles just aren’t a good team. They are 18.5 games back of the Dinos and 13.5 back of the Bears. We’ll see if they can get on the right page at home, though.

The Eagles were swept by the Dinos in their last series at home. In fact, the Eagles have lost seven straight outings and most of them haven’t been competitive. Head below for our free Doosan Bears vs. Hanwha Eagles pick for June 12, 2020 in the KBO.

Doosan Bears vs. Hanwha Eagles Prediction:

The Bears head into Friday with a record of 20-12 for a 5-game deficit behind the Dinos. Their offense is one of the best in the KBO. The Dinos are the only team in the KBO hitting the ball better than the Bears. They’re hitting .301 with 200 runs scored for an average of 6.25 per game. The Bears and Dinos are the only teams that have scored 200 runs so far this season. Second-year KBO pitcher, Chad Bell, is having problems getting on track in 2020.

He was sharp in 29 starts a season ago, as he posted a 3.50 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. In three starts this season, Bell has a 9.00 ERA and 2.09 WHIP. He’s allowed 11 earned runs and 14 hits in 11 innings. In his previous two outings, Bell notched an ERA of 9.82 and 15.75. His WHIP was all above 2.00 in both cases against the Wyverns and Dinos. With the Bears on tap Friday, it’s unlikely that Bell is going to get out of this game without another blemish on his resume.

The numbers have not been pretty for Choi Won-joon of the Bears. However, it’s a bit deceptive, as Choi went six straight appearances out of the bullpen without allowing a run. He allowed 2 earned runs without allowing a run in his last outing, so that was enough to skew his numbers in the wrong direction. Choi owns a 7.64 ERA and 1.58 WHIP as a reliever.

Today will be his first start of 2020. Last season, Choi notched an ERA of 2.65 and 1.25 WHIP in 54.1 innings. I think as he gets more work as a starter and pitch more innings, we should expect to see his numbers drop. And against the Eagles, Choi should probably manage alright. The Eagles are last in the KBO with a team batting average of .235 and just 3.18 runs scored per game. Look for the Bears to have a much easier time in this matchup than they did versus the Dinos yesterday.
