Doosan Bears vs. KIA Tigers Pick – KBO May 16, 2020

Ouch. Bad beats are part of the game, but it never feels good when they happen. The NC Dinos needed to close out SK Wyverns out in the bottom of the 9th for our +1.5 bet to hit. One more strike would have done as well. However, the Dinos walked in a batter with 2 outs to blow the save. With a chance to win the game after the walk, SK Wyverns couldn’t get the clutch hit and proceeded to lose in extras by 2+ runs.

The game was handicapped perfectly despite the loss, but that will happen in gambling. It doesn’t matter what sport or league it is, bad beats are going to happen. That was unfortunate because it stopped a potential two-day streak of 4-0 picks. Our OVER in the Doosan Bears-KIA Tigers game was an easy winner, though.

Back on the grind in the KBO on Saturday. The first double-header of the season is today, as the Kiwoom Heroes and LG Twins will make up for a lost game. The Bears and Tigers will be out on the field at Gunsan Wolmyeong Baseball Stadium in Gwangju for an early evening start time in South Korea.

It’s the early evening there, but North America will have to deal with an early morning start in the west and east. For those in EST, the match will begin at 4:00 a.m. The west coast will see a start time of 1:00 a.m. If you’re a really early riser or want to stay up really late in the west, then the time is, kind of, perfect. And if you’re in an Asian country, well, then disregard that because it really is perfect for you.

The Bears have won four of their previous five games and their offense has been looking up. They’ve been swinging the bats well and hope to keep it going on Saturday against the Tigers. If that happens, then it’s going to be tough for the Tigers to keep up again. The best offense for the Tigers was later in the game when they got to the bullpen. They’re going to have to get started earlier and often on Saturday. Lee Yong-chan is expected to get the call for the Bears, while Yang Hyun-jong counters for the Tigers. Head below for our free Doosan Bears vs. KIA Tigers pick for May 16, 2020 in the KBO.

Doosan Bears vs. KIA Tigers Prediction:

There hasn’t been much slowing down the Doosan Bears’ offense to open the season. They’ve destroyed the ball and continue to heat up. After scoring 7 runs on Thursday, the Bears scored 13 runs in a 13-4 win last season. People like to compare them to the New York Yankees, and that might be the best side-by-side comparison in the KBO. The Bears have now scored 8 runs per game on the season. In their previous five games, the Bears have racked up 10.6 runs per contest.

Yang Hyun-jong will do his best to cool off these sizzling hot bats of the Bears. He’s gotten off to a slow start, with a 6.00 ERA in 9 innings across two starts. Yang has surrendered 6 earned runs during that stretch. It’s unlike Yang, who is on the heels of a terrific season in 2019. He was one of the more reliable options in the KBO, as he recorded a 2.29 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 29 starts.

Prior to 2019, Yang posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.31 WHIP the season before. He’s a 32-year-old veteran who has been pitching in the KBO since 2007. Yang has a career ERA of 4.17 and 1.41 WHIP for respectable numbers. That’s enough to make a good career playing baseball in South Korea.

The Bears have been hitting just about every pitcher that has been thrown their way in the last five games. I don’t know if Yang is going to go 7 innings deep without getting into trouble in an inning or two. The same has been the case for Lee Yong-chan to open the year. Lee got reamed in his first start of 2020. He owns a 9.00 ERA after yielding 6 earned runs in 6 innings of work.

Lee was solid a season ago, with a 4.07 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. Since entering the KBO in 2008, Lee has posted a 3.77 ERA and 1.37 WHIP for a productive career as well. I’m under the impression that either Lee or Yang is going to get hit hard in this one. With the way the Bears have been swinging the bats at the dish, a total of 9.5 looks like a bit of a deal.
