The Kiwoom Heroes will look to avoid a rubber-match on Sunday, and get their second win in a row over the vaunted NC Dinos today. The Heroes weren’t intimidated by Koo Chang-mo on Friday. They didn’t do much damage against him, but an early 1st inning run set the tone for the rest of the game.
The Heroes scored a run and took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th on the road. Holding the Dinos off the board would have been an incredible accomplishment, though the Dinos scored 2 quick runs in the bottom of the 7th to the game up. They had opportunities to win, though the Heroes held on and forced extras, where they ended up winning 3-2.
A big round of applause for the Heroes to get that win against the Dinos in a tough spot on the road. The Dinos were the first team to win 25 games in their first 32 games since 1992. The Binggrae Eagles did it in 1992, and the Dinos did it in 2020. As soon as the Dinos accomplished that feat, they lost against the Heroes on Friday.
The Dinos aren’t expected to win every game, so that loss is a whatever kind of thing. They’re still leading at the top of the KBO by a fairly comfortable margin. The Dinos own a record of 25-8 heading into Saturday. They’re up 4 games on the Twins and Bears who are at 21-12 as of Friday night. Despite the loss on Friday, the Dinos are still the team to beat and the class of the KBO.
We should have another competitive matchup on Saturday between the Heroes and Dinos. It’s a fairly good pitching matchup, with decent pitchers on each side. The Dinos weren’t able to take advantage with their ace on the bump, but we’ll see if they give Lee Jae-hak some run support in this one. The Heroes will counter with Han Hyun-hee on the bump. Kiwoom Heroes vs. NC Dinos KBO Baseball Betting Odds:
Kiwoom Heroes vs. NC Dinos Prediction:
The Heroes will look to make it two in a row over the Dinos on Saturday. It’d be an impressive feat just to beat the Dinos in two of three games on the road. They have two games to do it on Saturday or Sunday. Han Hyun-hee will be tasked with getting the job done for the Heroes on Saturday. He’s already had a start against the Dinos at NC Park in 2020. That did not go well, as it’s the worst start of the season for Han.
He got drilled for 5 earned runs and 7 hits in 4.1 innings. Han had to leave the game with an ERA of 10.38 and 2.54 WHIP. Overall on the season, Han has been much better than that with a 4.96 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. He faces a Dinos’ offense that is coming off a poor performance on Friday. Despite that, though, the Dinos are first in the KBO with a batting average of .303 and 229 runs.
Lee Jae-hak had a different experience against the Heroes in his lone start against them this season. He posted an ERA of 2.84 and 1.26 WHIP in a win against the Heroes on May 27. Lee got pummeled against the SK Wyverns thereafter, but settled down to pitch a gem versus the Hanwha Eagles in his latest outing. He allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run across 7 innings. That momentum should be able to carry over into Saturday at NC Park. I’m on the Dinos to tie this series up for a rubber-match on Sunday.
