KT Wiz vs. Lotte Giants Pick – KBO June 5, 2020

The KT Wiz and Lotte Giants are in action to open a three-game series at Sajik Baseball Stadium on Friday. The Lotte Giants are trying to keep pace and show that their hot start wasn’t a fluke, but things aren’t working out too well. The Giants were off to a 6-1 start in 2020. However, they’ve quickly discovered that it’s not going to be that easy this season. The Giants were last in the KBO in 2019 with a record of 48-93-3. It was two seasons after they went 80-62 and a year after a record of 68-74. The Giants are looking for their first Korean Series win since 1992.

Plenty of money came in on the Giants after their hot start to the season. Naturally, it’s human nature to want to jump on the hot team before their odds change dramatically. This isn’t looking like a good bet now, though. A lot can happen between now and then, but I’m not too confident in the Giants. They’re coming off a 7-3 loss against the KIA Tigers on Thursday. Noh Kyung-eun was touched up early and the Giants weren’t able to respond. Noh pitched 6 innings with 6 earned runs allowed in his stint on the bump.

It was the third straight loss for the Giants and on the receiving end of a sweep against the Tigers. In three games against the Tigers, the Giants were smacked for 25 runs. All of the momentum they may have had in a 8-3 win against the Doosan Bears was thrown out the window. That was a good win for the Giants, but you have to follow through and make good on it thereafter. The Giants have fallen to 11-15 on the season after that 6-1 start. Just five wins have come their way after winning six games right out of the gate.

It isn’t time to rip up your Giants’ ticket if you bet on them to win the championship, but I wouldn’t be too confident right now. The Giants will turn to Seo Jun-won against a hot KT Wiz offense. They might have a case against starter pitcher of the Wiz, Kim Min-soo, who has been more than hittable in 2020. That said, the Wiz have a dangerous offense that could do a number of Seo pretty easily. Head below for our free KT Wiz vs. Lotte Giants pick for June 5, 2020 in the KBO.

KT Wiz vs. Lotte Giants Prediction:

The KT Wiz are swinging the bats well and lead the KBO with a team batting average of .308. The Doosan Bears are second in the KBO with an average of .303. The Wiz have scored an average of 6.5 runs per game on the season for second in the KBO. The NC Dinos hold a slight advantage on the Wiz in that respect. Seo could be in for a long day against this Wiz offense.

He has been average with a 4.23 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in five starts. As a rookie in 2019, Seo posted an ERA of 5.47 and 1.60 WHIP for an okay start to his career. Seo is coming off a couple of sharp performances against the Kiwoom Heroes and Doosan Bears, but I don’t know if he can sustain it against the red-hot Wiz bats.

The Giants will need better results from Kim Min-soo quickly. Kim has been getting raked across the coals so far in 2020. He’s gotten hammered for a 14.14 ERA and 3.14 WHIP in nine outings this season. In his fourth season, 2019 was the first year that Kim had an ERA below 5.00 and that was barely with a 4.96 ERA. His fifth season has turned into a disaster thus far, as his numbers continue to rise.

Overall, in Kim’s career, he owns a 5.80 ERA and 1.66 WHIP. Kim has posted an ERA of 5.79, 6.75, 9.00, and 4.96. Note that Kim has yet to start a game this season. He’s appeared in nine games out of the bullpen. Depth is a serious concern for the Wiz, as they have no other choice but to go with Kim here because of injuries.

The Wiz are last in the league as a team with an ERA of 5.98. If Kim runs into issues early in this one, the Wiz are going to be in for a long night with their bullpen trying to stop the damage. Despite the bad pitching in this game, this should be an entertaining matchup nonetheless.
