LG Twins vs. KT Wiz Pick – KBO October 20, 2020

The LG Twins and KT Wiz clash at KT Wiz Park on Tuesday for one of four matchups in the KBO today. The regular season is winding down in South Korea, while the World Series is just beginning today in the major leagues. The KBO started much earlier than MLB did, and they’re going to finish much later.

They played out a full season instead of throwing a shortened 60-game season together. The coronavirus has been under control in South Korea after an early flare up in a couple of spots, while there weren’t any contract disputes. Besides a player that had a fever early in the season, which he ended up returning a negative test by the way, there have been no coronavirus scares.

Fans were allowed to attend games from July to mid-August before that was pulled back. However, fans are beginning to return with the pennant race heating up. Next month for the postseason, clubs hope to allow more fans at games. As long as there aren’t any breakouts in the country, the KBO will be on track to have a fairly decent crowd for postseason games.

The atmosphere at KBO games is much different than Major League Baseball games. It’s a little more of a festive atmosphere. I find more people texting on their phones and discussing anything but baseball in the US, at least at regular season games. The postseason environment at major league games is quite thrilling.

The KT Wiz are on pace to go to the postseason for the first time in franchise history. They started playing baseball in the KBO in 2015, with their best record up to this point was last season when they posted a mark of 71-71-2. The Wiz took strides to go from 59-82-3 to 71-71-2, and now have taken an additional step in 2020.

They enter Tuesday with a record of 76-59-1 and a half game behind the Twins for second in the standings. In other words, this is a big time game for the Twins and Wiz. The Twins are expected to send Chang-gyu Lim to the hill against Je-seong Bae of the Wiz. Head below for our free LG Twins vs. KT Wiz pick for October 20, 2020.

LG Twins vs. KT Wiz KBO Baseball Betting Odds:

  • Twins +1.5 (-170)
  • Wiz -1.5 (+140)

  • Bears (+100)
  • Wiz (-130)

  • Over 10 (-115)
  • Under 10 (-115)

LG Twins vs. KT Wiz Prediction:

The Twins and Wiz would like to catch the NC Dinos for first in the KBO, but it’s more realistic to focus on aiming for the second seed. Both of these teams could get the second seed or be left with the fifth. This is a big game at KT Wiz Park. The Twins had Chan-gyu Lim on the bump for an earlier matchup against the Wiz this season.

It didn’t go so well, as the Wiz had him on the ropes. Lim posted an ERA of 6.00 after yielding 4 earned runs through 6 innings at home. Through 226 games in his nine-year career, Lim has been below average with an ERA of 4.88 and 1.54 WHIP.

He’s on pace for a career-high this season, with his previous high recorded in 2012 with a 4.53 ERA. Je-seong Bae was excellent against the Twins in two recent outings on September 26 and October 2. He conceded just 5 hits and 1 earned run through 9.2 innings of work against the Twins.

In his previous six performances, Bae has allowed fewer than 3 earned runs in all of his starts. It’s been well over a month since the 24-year-old has been frustrated on the bump. He posted an ERA of 3.76 and 1.43 WHIP in his first full season as a starter in 2019, and is coming on late this year. I will put faith in Bae to come up with another positive performance on Tuesday for the Wiz.
