NC Dinos vs. LG Twins Pick – KBO July 10, 2020

The NC Dinos and LG Twins meet after very different Thursdays for each club. The Dinos blasted the SK Wyverns away in the series finale for a 8-2 win. Their victory was highlighted by a 6-run 7th inning thanks to a No Jin-hyuk grand slam. He went deep with the bases loaded to blow the game open and give the Dinos a comfortable lead. The Dinos nearly blew a 5-1 lead in the series opener, but there was no coming back from a 8-2 deficit for the Wyverns.

We move onto the weekend where brand new meetings will begin across South Korea. The Dinos are up on the Kiwoom Heroes by 4 games going into Friday. They sport a record of 38-17 while the Heroes trail at 35-22. The Heroes were 4-2 winners over the Samsung Lions on Thursday, so they were able to keep pace with the Dinos.

The Twins were on the opposite end of a blowout on Thursday. They had no answers for Raul Alcantara, who went 7 innings with just 2 hits yielded and no runs. Alcantara struck out 8 hitters and issued no walks against the Twins. The Twins were able to record a win against the Bears in that series on Wednesday.

They notched a 8-5 win in a highly entertaining game, but dropped decisions of 9-6 and 6-0 in the two others. The Twins are a solid mid-tier team that is the best out of that tier. With the Kia Tigers losing the KBO batting average leader recently, the door is open in the next two weeks with Kim Sun-bin out. The Twins go into Friday with a record of 30-26. They’re back home for the first time since a 4-3 loss against the KT Wiz on July 2.

The Twins had back-to-back series’ on the road against the Lions and Bears. They recorded a record of 2-4 during the road trip. The Twins beat the Dinos, 10-8, in their last meeting back on May 8 at NC Park. Koo Chang-mo and Drew Rucinski are a two-headed monster for the Dinos. No other team in the KBO has a 1-2 punch like Koo and Rucinski. Rucinski is scheduled to get the nod for the Dinos in this one. Conversely, the Twins are expected to send Lim Chan-gyu to the hill. Head below for our free NC Dinos vs. LG Twins pick for July 10, 2020.

NC Dinos vs. LG Twins Prediction:

The NC Dinos are looking for another standout performance from Drew Rucinski on Friday. Rucinski, who spent time with the Angels, Twins, and Marlins has looked comfortable pitching for the Dinos in the KBO. He is in his second season in the KBO and has been able to build on a successful 2019.

Rucinski posted an ERA of 3.10 and 1.18 WHIP in 30 starts with the Dinos last season. It wasn’t enough to lead the Dinos to a Korean Series, but he, along with Koo Chang-mo, have a good chance of doing it this year. Rucinski owns an ERA of 2.30 and 1.11 WHIP in 2020. In 11 games, Rucinski has notched a record of 7-1 and has three straight wins.

Rucinski conceded 5 runs in his second start of the season, but since then, he’s allowed fewer than 3 runs in seven out of nine performances and no more than 3 runs in any outing. Rucinski heads into Friday feeling hot, with just 1 earned run allowed in 13 innings. He’s coming off a stellar game against the Kia Tigers. Rucinski gave up 1 run across 6 innings of work to put up another win on his resume.

Lim Chan-gyu of the Twins is coming off a shoddy performance against the Lions. He was hit for 9 hits and 4 earned runs in 7 innings for a 5.14 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. Overall on the season, Lim holds a 4.14 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. In his career, which dates back to 2011, he has a 5.01 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 210 games. The former overall No. 2 selection from the 2011 draft hasn’t really panned out to justify that pick. I’ll back Rucinski to out pitch another foe on Friday and lead the Dinos to a win.
