NC Dinos vs. LG Twins Pick – KBO July 13, 2020

The NC Dinos and LG Twins will attempt to start all over again and get a complete game in on Monday. They were the only teams that started up on Sunday despite rainy conditions. The game didn’t get very far, but fortunately it was a 2-2 tie when things were canceled, so nothing was lost. The biggest negative has to be for the Dinos. They lose out on a full start from Koo Chang-mo. If officials didn’t start the game, then Koo would have probably been pushed back to Monday. That’s not the case, though, so the Dinos will cycle through their rotation and go to the next man up.

Koo really didn’t have it last night. He gave up 2 early runs and had to work himself out of a jam to prevent more runs. It might have been the perfect time for a mulligan for Koo. The delayed start might have had something to do with his struggles. He may have very well settled in and pitched a gem the rest of the way, though. In any case, it wasn’t a good start for Koo, and he might have gotten bailed out by the rain. He still has the best numbers in the KBO and will likely respond with a strong performance in his next start.

The Dinos head into Monday with a record of 39-17-1. That’s good for first in the KBO. It gives them a 5.5-game advantage on the Kiwoom Heroes. I don’t know if anyone is going to catch them in the regular season, but the Dinos are going to be far from unbeatable in the postseason. The SK Wyverns tied for first in the standings in 2019 and look at them now. They’re battling to stay out of the basement with the Hanwha Eagles, nor did they have a successful postseason after finishing with a record of 88-55-1.

The Bears are the defending champions in the KBO. The Dinos have been playing baseball in the league since only 2013. They have no Korean Series titles, but they look ready to strike in just their seventh season. Lee Jae-hak is expected to get the call for the Dinos on Monday. The Dinos go from one of their best in the rotation to their worst. Lee Woo-chan is expected to make his first start of the season after two appearances out of the bullpen. Lee Jae-hak will counter for the Dinos. That’s a bit different than having Koo on the bump. Head below for our free NC Dinos vs. LG Twins pick for July 13, 2020 in the KBO.

NC Dinos vs. LG Twins Prediction:

The Dinos don’t have the luxury of going to Koo today after his arm was wasted over just a couple of innings on Sunday. Lee Jae-hak has been one of the worst performing pitchers in the Dinos’ rotation. Jae-hak goes into Monday with an ERA of 5.59 and 1.44 WHIP. In his ninth season in the KBO, he recorded a career-high ERA as a starting pitcher last year with a 3.75 ERA.

However, his numbers have taken a dive, and closer to how he was doing in 2017 and 2018, where he posted an ERA of 5.67 and 4.79. Overall in his career, Jae-hak has notched a 4.33 ERA and 1.39 WHIP. In his previous four starts, the 29-year-old has allowed at least 3 earned runs. It could have been five straight, but Jae-hak was pulled after conceding 2 earned runs in 1.2 innings for a 10.80 ERA on June 13.

In one start against the Twins, Jae-hak didn’t have it early in the season. That was the first start for Jae-hak this season and he didn’t handle it well. He gave up 6 hits and 4 earned runs in 5.1 innings for a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. On the road in this matchup, Jae-hak will look for different fortunes as a visitor against the Twins. His counterpart on Monday, Lee Woo-chan, has appeared in two games as a reliever this season.

Woo-chan didn’t last long, as he didn’t get through an inning in either outing. He was hit for 4 earned runs in 1 inning combined for a 36.00 ERA and 5.00 WHIP. Woo-chan will be able to bring those numbers down as he gets some starting nods. However, I’m not confident that he’s going to succeed. It can’t get much worse than a 36.00 ERA and 5.00 WHIP, so improving on that isn’t much of a success. With spotty rain in the forecast, the bullpens may get extra work if the game gets paused. I think that’s going to be a concern across the KBO today. This should be another high-scoring contest.
