SK Wyverns vs. NC Dinos Pick – KBO June 2, 2020

The NC Dinos play host to the SK Wyverns on Tuesday at NC Park in Changwon. The Dinos mauled the Samsung Lions in the series finale on Sunday by a score of 18-7. Good teams know how to respond after poor performances and that’s exactly what the Dinos did to the Lions. This after the Dinos were losers by a score of 9-1 the day before.

Quickly putting a bad loss in the past and responding with a much better effort is how you go about your business as a club. Bad losses are impossible to avoid over the course of a long baseball season. Responding with 18 runs is what to do, though. The Dinos continue to lead with the KBO with a record of 18-5 to put them two games ahead of the LG Twins.

The LG Twins are hanging in there nicely at 16-7, and have done enough to keep the Dinos within reach. I’d say that out of the Doosan Bears, Dinos, and Twins, your eventual Korean Series champion is one of those three clubs. I wouldn’t ignore the Kiwoom Heroes who could come on strong as well. The Heroes have been playing better baseball most recently after a slow start.

The Dinos swept the Heroes last week with three straight wins. That was their last series at home. They had back-to-back series at home prior to going on the road to play the Samsung Lions. Between the Hanwha Eagles and Lions, the Dinos won five of six matchups at home, which included five straight wins after losing the series opener against the Eagles. The Dinos are back home and should be feeling good after blowing out the Lions.

The Wyverns started off as the worst team in the KBO, though they’ve been able to claw out of the basement and are next to last now. They’re a better club than what we see early in the season. Just like the Lotte Giants aren’t as good as what we were seeing in the opening stages of the 2020 campaign.

Early in the season isn’t a time to overreact, but things are beginning to take shape somewhat. Keep an eye on the Wyverns. However, this is a tough assignment against the Dinos on the road. Head below for our free SK Wyverns vs. NC Dinos pick for June 2, 2020 in the KBO.

SK Wyverns vs. NC Dinos Prediction:

The Wyverns went from 1-11 this season to 7-16. Their current record of 7-16 doesn’t look like much, but that’s quite the improvement from where they were. And it’s really early this season, so who knows the Wyverns might have a lot more to show. They went 88-55-1 last season. I highly doubt that they fell off as much as it looked originally. Having said that, the Wyverns have a tall order in this contest. They’re on the road and are sending out Moon Seung-won who has been well off the mark in 2020.

Moon heads into Tuesday with an ERA of 6.10 and 1.65 WHIP after three less than desirable starts. In one of four outings, Moon pitched well, which happened to be against the NC Dinos. However, that was at home, and Moon has been careless on the road in 2020. He has posted ERA’s of 6.35, 8.31, and 7.71 on the road this season. In all three games, Moon surrendered 4 earned runs. With the Dinos in a more comfortable environment at NC Park on Tuesday, expect them to get the better of Moon today.

Lee Jae-hak is coming off a nice performance over the Wyverns on May 15. He gave up just 2 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings of work for a 1.50 ERA and 0.50 WHIP. In his most recent outing, Lee gave up 2 earned runs and 6 hits in 6.1 innings. Overall, Lee has posted a 4.37 ERA and 1.32 WHIP for a fairly respectable start to 2020. He’s looking to build on his 3.75 ERA and 1.36 WHIP from last season, and could easily do that. In his previous three outings against the Wyverns, Lee has allowed a total of 5 earned runs across 17 innings of work. The Dinos should get this done by 2 or more runs at home over the Wyverns.
