Texas may have saved their season last night with an overtime thrilling win over Baylor. The Longhorns showed some real grit and resolve in pulling out a win that they absolutely HAD to have. And they fought like their season depended on it. Unfortunately, it got a little too feisty in overtime with a fracas that led to seven ejections. That will be the story today, but even without the brawl, it was a memorable basketball game.
As great and tense as the Texas v. Baylor game was, it wasn’t even the best game in the Big Twelve conference last night. Iowa State erased a 21-defecit with a 22-0 run and used a 59-33 second half to take down the visiting Sooners. The Big Twelve standings are a jumbled mess, but only because the league is so deep and so good. Don’t be surprised to see four or more Big Twelve teams playing in the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
We notched a relatively easy winner on the Virginia v. Syracuse UNDER, thanks in large part to a 23-20 first half. I knew it wouldn’t be pretty to watch, but winning some wagers takes some of the sting out of a 43 point combined half…

Georgetown Hoyas at Butler Bulldogs -3
Bet against Butler at home at your own peril. The Bulldogs are 13-2 at home this year and one of the losses is a two-point loss to Villanova, who would be a #1 seed if the season ended today, and the other was a four point loss to Providence two months ago. Butler, despite what their roster may look like on paper, is a really good team.
Georgetown beat Butler earlier this season at Georgetown, but has largely struggled on the road this season. They are just 4-4 away from home and all of the wins are against non-tourney teams including an overtime win at Creighton. For whatever reason, when a team goes on the road in this league, they generally lose. I don’t see much reason to expect anything different tonight.
Georgetown has shot just 42.7% from the floor and 32% from behind the arc in their last five games. Meanwhile, Butler shoots it well at Hinkle Fieldhouse, especially from distance, tallying over 42% from distance in their last five games.
Butler has been good against the spread this season at 16-11 ATS and has covered their last two games after a little February lull. I like them to cover the slim three points at home today and notch yet another resume-boosting victory.
