Kansas Jayhawks March Madness 2010 Predictions

The Kansas Jayhawks have been the best team in the NCAA for the majority of the season, and bring a 32-2 record into the Midwest Region of this year’s NCAA Tournament. The Jayhawks marched their way right through the Big 12 Tournament recently, defeating Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Kansas State en route to the Big 12 Championship. Veterans Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich, along with young guns Xavier Henry and Marcus Morris form a very solid top 4 for the Jayhawks. The Jayhawks were ranked #1 in the nation in all but 3 weeks of the season, never ranking higher than #3, and could be bound for another NCAA Tournament Championship this time around.

First Round Opponent – Lehigh (22-10) Patriot League (10-4)

Tournament Prediction – Of course, Kansas earned a #1 seed with the incredible season they are having, and have put themselves in a good spot to advance through this tournament. Kansas always seems to show up to play when they make their way into the NCAA Tournament. In 38 tournament appearances, the Jayhawks have played in 13 Final Fours, and have brought home 3 Tournament Championships, most recently in 2008 over North Carolina. Kansas has the tools to do it again this year, if Cole Aldrich can be a force down low, and Sherron Collins can continue his strong shooting game, shooting 43% from the field on the season and 85% from the free throw line. Look for Kansas to make at least an Elite 8 appearance, but they could run into a red hot Ohio State Buckeyes team later in this bracket.

Duke Blue Devils March Madness 2010 Predictions

The Duke Blue Devils have enjoyed plenty of success this season, all the way to a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Duke has been the best team in ACC for the majority of the season, and just proved that as they won the ACC Tournament this past weekend over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets by a score of 65-61 in the Final game. Coach K’s squads are usually competitive, but the Blue Devils have not won this tournament since 2001, a drought that Duke would like to end this time around. The Blue Devils are definitely the favorite to come out of the South Region bracket in this tournament, and should be making their 15th trip to the Final Four in their 34th Tournament appearance.

First Round Opponent – Winner of play-in game between Arkansas Pine Bluff and Winthrop

Tournament Prediction- The Duke Blue Devils are always a threat in this tournament, with a world class Coach in Mike Krzyzewski and always a solid recruiting staff, this Duke program remains as a constant threat every March. The rate of success Duke has in this tournament is astonishing, considering they haven’t missed a tournament since 1995 and have appeared in 14 Final Fours in 33 tournament appearances, winning back-to-back NCAA Tournament Championships in 1991 and 92′, and winning again in 2001. However, Duke would love for this to be the season where they break out of their 8-year Championship drought, and it looks like the Blue Devils have the team to make a serious run in the 2010 edition of this tournament. Look for Duke to come out of the South Region bracket, and compete in their 15 Final Four in school history, while pushing for their 1st NCAA Tournament Championship in 9 years.
