2019 NCAAF Power Rankings – Week 11

Since a number of the top programs in the land had the past week off, the upper reaches of the major polls are about the same as Week 10. That won’t be the case next week. We have a number of stellar matchups on tap as the stretch run of the NCAAF regular season heats up.

This week, we have two meetings of undefeated teams to look forward to. Penn State will be traveling to face Minnesota in a meeting of undefeated Big Ten squads. The marquee game of the week will see LSU head to Alabama for a meeting of a pair of SEC West teams who sit atop the polls.

The four spots in the College Football Playoffs remain open for debate as we get set for Week 11. Further down the polls, there remains a ton of jockeying for position. That sets the stage for what should be a wild month of November.

Let’s take a look at where the Top 25 teams in the nation check in for this week’s power rankings. And remember to check our NCAAF betting picks for week 11.

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama Crimson Tide Logo

  • Record: 8-0
  • AP Rank: 1
  • Standings: 1-SEC West

Opening lines have the Crimson Tide as 6.5-point home favorites for Saturday’s showdown with LSU. Early in the week, it remains unclear if Tua Tagovailoa is going to be able to give it a go. The spread bears watching as a result, but we should be in line for a stellar contest regardless.

2. LSU Tigers

LSU Tigers Logo

  • Record: 8-0
  • AP Rank: 1
  • Standings: 2-SEC West

AP voters are sold on the Tigers as the top team in the land, while the Coaches give the honor to Alabama. Once the final whistle blows on Saturday, there will be no doubt as to which squad is tops in the nation. The matchup is pretty even across the board, but that goes out the window at kickoff.

3. Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State Buckeyes Logo

  • Record: 8-0
  • AP Rank: 3
  • Standings: 1-B10 East

The Buckeyes are undefeated and have a pair of winnable games coming up versus Maryland and Ruthers. The sledding gets tougher the rest of the way as Ohio State closes out the year with tilts versus Penn State and Michigan. All eight of the team’s wins to date have come by double digits.

2. Clemson Tigers

Clemson Tigers Logo

  • Record: 9-0
  • AP Rank: 4
  • Standings: 1-ACC Atlantic

While other top programs had the past week off, the Tigers spent Saturday playing a glorified scrimmage versus Wofford. Unsurprisingly, they won with ease. That really doesn’t move the needle for a Clemson team that’s consistently knocked on strength of schedule.

5. Penn State Nittany Lions

Penn State Nittany Lions Logo

  • Record: 8-0
  • AP Rank: 5
  • Standings: 1-B10 East

The Nittany Lions have a tough test at hand this week as they travel to face an unbeaten Minnesota squad. Early lines have Penn State as 6.5-point road favorites. That’s a testament to how great the team has looked in 2019 thus far, but this game will still be quite the challenge.

6. Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia Bulldogs Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 6
  • Standings: 1-SEC East

The Bulldogs handled business versus Florida on Saturday to take control of the SEC East. A one-loss regular season won’t preclude them from consideration for the CFP, but tests versus Auburn and Texas A&M remain. Georgia is back in action on Saturday at home versus Missouri.

7. Oregon Ducks

Oregon Ducks Logo

  • Record: 8-1
  • AP Rank: 8
  • Standings: 1-P12 North

The Utes survived a tough road trip to Washington and walked away with a 33-28 win. They’re a game in front of the pack in the Pac-12 South. The team gets this week off in advance of its final three games of the regular season, all of which come versus divisional rivals.

9. Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma Sooners Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 9
  • Standings: 2-B12

It was a bye week for the Sooners in the wake of an upset loss to Kansas State. There are a number of challenges to come in the final four games, starting with a visit this week from a tough Iowa State team. The following week, it’s a trip to face off with undefeated Baylor.

10. Baylor Bears

Baylor Bears Logo

  • Record: 8-0
  • AP Rank: 11
  • Standings: 1-B12

Speaking of the Bears, they kept the record perfect with a Thursday night victory over West Virginia. The date with Oklahoma is certainly circled on the calendar, but the team has business to tend to first with a trip to TCU. Baylor has already outperformed expectations, so we’ll see how far they can go.

11. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Minnesota Golden Gophers Logo

  • Record: 8-0
  • AP Rank: 13
  • Standings: 1-B10 West

The undefeated Golden Gophers have been one of the biggest surprises of 2019, but they have a treacherous stretch over the final month. For the final four games, Minnesota will be squaring off with three currently ranked teams. That starts this week when Penn State comes to town.

12. Florida Gators

Florida Gators Logo

  • Record: 7-2
  • AP Rank: 10
  • Standings: 2-SEC East

The Gators came up short in Saturday’s tilt with Georgia, but this remains a solid program which has a shot at a primo bowl invite. The club welcomes Vanderbilt this week and heads to Missouri the week after. That’s followed by a late bye in advance of the finale versus Florida State.

13. Auburn Tigers

Auburn Tigers Logo

  • Record: 7-2
  • AP Rank: 12
  • Standings: 3-SEC West

Third-best team in the loaded SEC West is nothing to sneeze at. While Auburn naturally had greater aspirations than that, that’s where they stand with four to go. The program still has a chance to make a statement with games versus Georgia and Alabama remaining.

14. Michigan Wolverines

Michigan Wolverines Logo

  • Record: 7-2
  • AP Rank: 14
  • Standings: 3-B10 East

The Wolverines picked up another big win on Saturday, this one at the expense of Maryland. The program has responded well to its two defeats, but that doesn’t take away the sting of those disappointments. Michigan gets the week off in advance of facing rival Michigan State.

15. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Logo

  • Record: 6-2
  • AP Rank: 15
  • Standings: Independent

One week after being smoked by Michigan, the Fighting Irish needed a late score to survive a home date with Virginia Tech. They were 17.5-point favorites at kickoff, so it may be time for the market to adjust expectations. Notre Dame is back in action on Saturday at Duke.

16. Wisconsin Badgers

Wisconsin Badgers Logo

  • Record: 6-2
  • AP Rank: 16
  • Standings: 2-B10 West

In the beginning of the season, the Badgers were looking like world beaters. Two losses later, the team is searching for answers. They’ll be home this week to take on Iowa as both clubs look to make up ground on Minnesota. Wisconsin travels to Minnesota for the regular season finale.

17. Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa Hawkeyes Logo

  • Record: 6-2
  • AP Rank: 18
  • Standings: 2-B10 West

The Hawkeyes get Wisconsin and Minnesota in back-to-back weeks, so their designs on the Big Ten West crown will be answered soon. Early lines have them as 8.5-point road dogs for this week’s tilt, but the matchup suggests it may be closer than that. We’ll find out on Saturday.

18. Cincinnati Bearcats

Cincinnati Bearcats Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 17
  • Standings: 1-AAC East

For now, the Bearcats hold the mantle of top Group of Five squad in the nation by a close margin over Memphis and Boise State. UConn and USF are up next, but tougher dates with Temple and Memphis loom. The race for the two AAC divisions may come down to the wire.

19. Memphis Tigers

Memphis Tigers Logo

  • Record: 8-1
  • AP Rank: 19
  • Standings: 2-AAC West

The Tigers picked up a big home win on Saturday over an undefeated SMU team. They get a bye this week and return to action with two straight on the road versus Houston and USF. If they can avoid any slip-ups, the finale with Cincinnati could serve as a conference title game preview.

20. Boise State Broncos

Boise State Broncos Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 21
  • Standings: 1-MW Mountain

The Broncos control their destiny in the Mountain West with four games left to play. Saturday brings a home date with a Wyoming team which has outperformed expectations thus far. Nonetheless, early lines have Boise State installed as 11.5-point favorites.

21. Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Wake Forest Demon Deacons Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 22
  • Standings: 2-ACC Atlantic

The Demon Deacons have bounced back from their lone loss of the season with two straight wins over conference foes. The team closes out the year with three of four on the road, beginning with this week’s trip to Virginia Tech. The following week, it’s a visit to Clemson to face the defending national champs.

22. SMU Mustangs

SMU Mustang Logo 101x101

  • Record: 8-1
  • AP Rank: 23
  • Standings: 2-AAC West

The Mustangs are no longer undefeated, but they can still have something to say about how the AAC shakes out. They’ll look to bounce back this week with a home date versus East Carolina. A week off follows, and then the regular season wraps with tilts versus Navy and Tulane.

23. Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State Wildcats Logo

  • Record: 6-2
  • AP Rank: 20
  • Standings: 3-B12

One week after upsetting Oklahoma, the Wildcats didn’t suffer anything resembling a letdown with a 38-10 victory over rival Kansas. Chris Klieman is doing a fantastic job in his first year at the helm. The club faces another big test this week with a trip to Texas to face the Longhorns.

24. Navy Midshipmen

Navy Midshipmen Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 25
  • Standings: 1-AAC West

Navy’s lone blemish on the year came on the road at Memphis, the team they trail in the divisional standings. The club gets this week off in advance of a trip to Notre Dame on November 16. Dates with SMU and Houston follow in advance of the traditional game with Army.

25. San Diego State Aztecs

San Diego State Aztecs Logo

  • Record: 7-1
  • AP Rank: 24
  • Standings: 1-MW West

The Aztecs have wrapped a three- and a four-game winning streak around the lone loss of the season. The defeat came at home to Utah State, but it has been a number of solid wins outside of that. The team is home for three of its final four, starting with a visit from Nevada on Saturday.

NCAAF Teams knocking on the Door

  • UCF Knights
  • Appalachian State Mountaineers
  • Indiana Hoosiers
  • Texas Longhorns
  • Texas A&M Aggies

UCF has two losses on the year, but the team has started to click again. Appalachian State suffered its first defeat of the year this week, while Indiana has been a pleasant surprise in the Big Ten. The two marquee programs from the Lone Star state haven’t matched preseason expectations, but they remain clubs that few want to face.
