Chelsea vs Manchester United

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 13:30 CET (7:30 EST)

Venue: Stamford Bridge

Chelsea Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Arrizabalaga
  • Defense – Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso and Azpilicueta
  • Midfield – Barkley, Jorginho, Kante, Willian and Hazard
  • Attack – Giroud

Manchester United Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – De Gea
  • Defense – Smalling, Shaw, Bailly and Young
  • Midfield – McTominay, Pogba and Matic
  • Attack – Rashford, Martial and Lukaku

Chelsea will host Manchester United at the Stamford Bridge this Saturday, in one of the premium derbies of the English Premier League. Chelsea have been a revelation this season and are currently sharing the 1st spot in the rankings with Liverpool and Manchester City, while Manchester United have struggled mightily this season and are currently in the 8th place in the English Premier League.

Since the season opener against Huddersfield Town and their 0-3 win, Chelsea have been on a roll and currently have an undefeated record. With 20 out of the possible 24 points scored, Chelsea are tied for the league lead with Liverpool and Manchester City.

Manchester United have been the disappointment of the season, in what is their worst English Premier League start ever. Losses to the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United have just intensified the fans’ and media cries for Jose Mourinho’s job.

Chelsea are a favorite for this one, especially since they are playing at home. Manchester United’s defense has been their Achilles’ Heel this season, and if they are to spring a surprise in this one, they will need to keep Chelsea from scoring.

Bournemouth vs Southampton

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 16:00 CET (10:00 EST)

Venue: Vitality Stadium

Bournemouth Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Begovic
  • Defense – Ake, Francis, Smith and Cook
  • Midfield – Fraser, Brooks, Lerma and Cook
  • Attack – King and Wilson

Southampton Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – McCarthy
  • Defense – Yoshida, Bednarek, Soares, Hoedt and Bertrand
  • Midfield – Hojbjerg, Lemina and Redmond
  • Attack – Ings and Gabbiadini

Bournemouth will host Southampton at the Vitality Stadium this Saturday in an intriguing Matchweek 9 matchup. Bournemouth have been one of the best stories of the young English Premier League season, while Southampton has once again struggled.

Bournemouth are currently in the 6th place in the English Premier League, just 4 points of the 1st placed Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea. They have also won 3 out of their last 4 EPL games in convincing fashion, scoring 10 goals in the process.

Southampton have struggled to stay afloat once again in EPL and are currently in the 16th place in the EPL, just above the relegation zone. They have lost 3 straight games in the EPL to Chelsea, Liverpool and Wolverhampton.

Bournemouth are the clear favorites in this one. Considering that they are playing at home, they absolutely need to win this one if they want to keep their current form until the end of the season.

West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspurs

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 16:00 CET (10:00 EST)

Venue: Olympic Stadium, London

West Ham United Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Fabianski
  • Defense – Diop, Zabaleta and Balbuena
  • Midfield – Rice, Masuaku, Noble, Obiang and Anderson
  • Attack – Arnautovic and Yarmolenko

Tottenham Hotspurs Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Lloris
  • Defense – Rose, Alderweireld and Sanchez
  • Midfield – Trippier, Dier, Wings and Sissoko
  • Attack – Heung-Min, Moura and Kane

West Ham United will host the favored Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday at the Olympic Stadium in London. West Ham finally seem to be hitting their form, while Tottenham are trying to keep up with the leading trio of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in the English Premier League.

Despite losing last Matchweek at Brighton, West Ham United are trending up with their form and style of play. The Hammers are currently in the 15th place in the EPL with 7 points from 8 matches and I expect that improve quickly now, once the schedule becomes more favorable for them.

Tottenham Hotspurs find themselves right behind the league leaders by 2 points, along with Arsenal. Losses to Watford and Liverpool have really set them back in the title race.

The Spurs are favorite in this one but it will not be easy to win at the Olympic Stadium. Manchester United found out the hard way few weeks back. This one should be a high scoring affair, as both clubs prefer attacking soccer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Watford

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 16:00 CET (10:00 EST)

Venue: Molineux Stadium

Wolverhampton Wanderers Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Rui Patricio
  • Defense –Bennett, Coady, Boly and Doherty
  • Midfield – Jonny, Neves and Moutinho
  • Attack – Jota, Costa and Jimenez

Watford Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Foster
  • Defense – Mariappa, Cathcart, Prodl and Kiko
  • Midfield – Capoue, Doucoure, Pereyra and Hughes
  • Attack – Gray and Deeney

Wolverhampton Wanderers will host Watford at the Molineux Stadium this Saturday, in what should be a great matchup of mid-table teams with high ambitions.

Wolves have found their ground in the English Premier League and find themselves currently in the 7th place in the EPL with 15 points from their opening 8 matches. Wolves are undefeated in their last 6 EPL matches with 4 wins and 2 draws.

Watford have been equally impressive this season, starting the season with 4 straight wins for a club record. They have trailed off a bit since then, but are still in the 9th place in the EPL with 13 points from their opening 8 matches.

This one is quite close to call, with Wolves having a slight advantage due to a better form and the home field advantage.

Newcastle United vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 16:00 CET (10:00 EST)

Venue: St. James Park

Newcastle United Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Dubravka
  • Defense – Lascelles, Fernandez, Yedlin and Manquillo
  • Midfield – Shelvey, Diame, Ritchey and Kennedy
  • Attack – Muto and Perez

Brighton & Hove Albion Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Ryan
  • Defense – Duffy, Dunk, Bong and Bruno
  • Midfield – Kayal, Knockaert, March and Bissouma
  • Attack – Jahanbakhsh and Murray

Newcastle United will host Brighton & Hove Albion at St. James Park this Saturday in a matchup of two teams that should be in opposite places at this point of the season. Newcastle United certainly didn’t expect to be winless at this point and few could’ve predicted Brighton’s mid-table ranking.

Newcastle have been a disappointment this season and they are yet to win a match in the EPL. They have only managed to draw 2 times from their opening 8 matches, good enough for 2 points and the 19th place in the EPL, right in the middle of the relegation zone.

Brighton have fared a bit better, with 2 wins to their resume so far against Manchester United and West Ham United. They have managed to score 2 draws as well, for a total of 8 points from their opening 8 matches and the 13th place in the EPL.

Newcastle United are favorites on paper in this one but their form and lack of effort is worrying at this point. I expect this one to be a low-scoring affair that could go either way.

Manchester City vs Burnley

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 16:00 CET (10:00 EST)

Venue: City of Manchester Stadium

Manchester City Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Ederson
  • Defense – Laporte, Walker, Mendy and Stones
  • Midfield – Fernandinho, D. Silva, B. Silva and Mahrez
  • Attack – Sterling and Aguero

Burnley Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Hart
  • Defense – Lowton, Mee, Taylor and Tarkowski
  • Midfield – Gudmundsson, Westwood, Cork and Lennon
  • Attack – Walker and Barnes

League-leaders and defending champions Manchester City will host Burnley at the City of Manchester Stadium this Saturday. The undefeated Citizens are a force in the EPL and are yet to lose a match, while Burnley have just recently found their last season’s form and started to climb the table.

Manchester City have been clinical since the season opener winning 6 out of the first 8 matches, and scoring 2 draws against Liverpool and Wolverhampton. Their goal difference of 21 goals scored and 3 goals allowed in 8 matches is by far the best in the EPL.

Burnley had a terrible start to their season and struggled to perform while playing in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. Since getting knocked out from the UEFA Europa League, Burnley have found their form and started to play better, including a current undefeated run of 3 matches.

Manchester City is the absolute favorite in this one at home and anything but their win should be considered a major upset.

Cardiff City vs Fulham

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 16:00 CET (10:00 EST)

Venue: Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Etheridge
  • Defense – Bamba, Morisson, Bennett and Ecuele Manga Patterson
  • Midfield – Arter, Hoilett, Camarasa, Murphy and Gunnarsson
  • Attack – Patterson

Fulham Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Bettinelli
  • Defense – Christie, LeMarchal and Ream
  • Midfield – Sessegnon, Seri, Anguissa and Schurrle
  • Attack – Mitrovic and Vietto

Cardiff City will host Fulham at the Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday in a duel of two clubs fighting for their lives in the English Premier League.

Cardiff City are winless this season and have barely managed to score 2 points in their opening 8 matches. Fulham have shown some glimpses of form but have been terrible defensively, allowing 21 goals in their opening 8 matches.

At this point, Cardiff City seem hopeless and bound to get relegated while Fulham can still get on track in the EPL. The Cottagers have a formidable attack that can score against anyone and if they can protect their goal in this one, they should come out on top.

Huddersfield Town vs Liverpool

Time: Saturday, October 20th 2018, 18:30 CET (12:30 EST)

Venue: Kirklees Stadium

Huddersfield Town Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Losl
  • Defense – Zanka, Schindler, Hadergjonaj and Durm
  • Midfield – Pritchard, Hogg, Mooy, La Parra and Billing
  • Attack – Depoitre

Liverpool Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Allison
  • Defense – Gomez, Robertson, Van Dijk and Lovren
  • Midfield – Shaqiri, Henderson and Wijnaldum
  • Attack – Salah, Firmino and Mane

Huddersfield Town will host league-leaders Liverpool at the Kirklees Stadium this Saturday. A contrasting matchup between a struggling club trying to avoid the relegation and a club trying to break their 27-year-long fast for a title.

Huddersfield Town are currently in the 18th place in the EPL with just 3 points from their opening 8 matches. They have also yet to win a match in the EPL.

Liverpool have been clinical this season with 6 wins from their opening matches and 2 draws against the main title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City. They have the league’s best defense with only 3 goals allowed in 8 matches.

Liverpool are the absolute favorites in this one and anything but a Reds win should be considered a surprise.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Time: Sunday, October 21st 2018, 17:00 CET (11:00 EST)

Venue: Goodison Park

Everton Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Pickford
  • Defense – Digne, Kenny, Zouma and Keane
  • Midfield – Sigurdsson, Gueye, Bernard and Davies
  • Attack – Richarlison and Walcott

Crystal Palace Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Hennessey
  • Defense – van Aanholt, Sakho, Tomkins, Schlupp and Wan-Bissaka
  • Midfield – McArthur, Milivojevic and Townsend
  • Attack – Zaha and Ayew

Everton will host Crystal Palace at the Goodison Park this Sunday. Everton are finally hitting their stride and starting to climb the EPL table, while Crystal Palace have really struggled to score this season with just 5 goals from their opening 8 matches.

Everton had high expectations for this season in the EPL but haven’t really started well. Recently they have been playing great, winning two straight games against Leicester City and Fulham. The Blues are currently in the 11th place with 12 points.

Crystal Palace are in the 14th place in the EPL at the moment but have really struggled to score. Their 5 goals from the opening 8 matches are the 2nd worst offense in the EPL, behind the anemic offenses of Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City, who have scored just 4 goals.

Everton should take this one at home and continue their climb towards the Top 7 places in the EPL. Crystal Palace seem anemic right now and shouldn’t pose a big problem for the Blues.

Arsenal vs Leicester City

Time: Monday, October 22nd 2018, 21:00 CET (15:00 EST)

Venue: Emirates Stadium

Arsenal Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Leno
  • Defense – Holding, Mustafi, Monreal and Bellerin
  • Midfield – Xhaka, Mikhtaryan, Ivoby and Torreira
  • Attack – Lacazette and Welbeck

Leicester City Provisional Starting XI

  • GK – Schmeichel
  • Defense – Evans, Chillwell, Maguire, Amartey and Pereira
  • Midfield – Mendy, Ndidi and Maddison
  • Attack – Vardy and Iheanacho

Arsenal will host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium the upcoming Monday in the Matchweek 9 matchup of two prolific offenses. Arsenal are currently in the 4th place in the English Premier League, while Leicester City are comfortable in the 10th place in the EPL.

Since losing their two opening matches to Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal have been clinical and have won 6 straight matches in the EPL, good enough for the best current form in the EPL. Even more impressive is their offense who is 2nd in the EPL, scoring 19 goals in the opening 8 matches.

Leicester City have oscillated between great and abysmal this season with 4 wins and 4 losses in their opening 8 matches in the EPL. The Foxes have 12 points and are currently in the 10th place in the EPL.

Arsenal are a favorite to take this one at home but my expectations are that it will be a firecracker of a match. Neither of the teams have demonstrated the ability to protect their net and this matchup should see a lot of goals.
