Here’s the Ultimate Betting Guide for UFC 250!

UFC 250 Poster

On Saturday, May 6th, the UFC is set to hold another major PPV event headlined by Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer. The main card of this event is fantastic, featuring several important matchups with title implications. Today, I’ll be formulating the ultimate betting guide for UFC 250 that highlights several of the fighters worth throwing money on.

Fight fans have a lot to look forward to this weekend. Saturday’s event features several underdogs with serious potential to win. Here are five fighters that I believe offer the best chance to win big.

The odds below are courtesy of Bovada, one of the top online sportsbooks in the US.

Sean O’Malley: -450 vs. Eddie Wineland: +325

The first fight of the UFC 250 main card features highly-touted prospect Sean O’Malley against the grizzled fighting veteran, Eddie Wineland. It’s a hugely important fight for both men. O’Malley looks to prove his supporters right with an impressive victory, while Wineland hopes to prove he can still compete with the young, hungry contenders at 135 pounds.

Sean O’Malley came into the UFC as one of the most exciting young prospects in recent memory. Unfortunately, issues with USADA kept him on the sidelines for years. He finally returned in March and looks incredible with a first-round knockout over Jose Quinonez. He enters this fight as the -450 favorite and it’s easy to see why.

Eddie Wineland has been a professional MMA fighter since 2003. Some felt that his time in the sport was coming to an end after losing two straight losses. With his back against the wall, Wineland earned an incredible second-round TKO over Grigory Popov. It’s clear that Wineland has the power to give O’Malley trouble.

My Prediction: Sean O’Malley wins via 2nd-round TKO

At 11-0, Sean O’Malley is a fighter to keep an eye on right now. He has an incredible striking arsenal and seems to have improved during his time away from the sport. I expect O’Malley to spend the first round finding his range before securing the TKO finish in the second.

Neil Magny: -155 vs. Anthony Rocco Martin: +125

Next up on the main card is a welterweight bout between two men looking to break into the division’s top-10. Neil Magny and Rocco Martin are both coming off impressive wins. A victory on Saturday night will almost certainly result in one man receiving a number next to his name. This was one of the tougher fights to predict while forming this ultimate betting guide for UFC 250.

Neil Magny is known for his tremendous cardio and overwhelming striking skills. Historically speaking, it’s major power punchers that give him trouble. That’s not necessarily something he’ll be overly-concerned about against Rocco Martin. For that reason, he’s coming into this fight as the -155 favorite.

Anthony Rocco Martin has found a home at welterweight. He’s 5-1 in the division with his only loss coming in a close decision to Demian Maia. He started his UFC career as a solid grappler, yet in recent years has earned several wins using his impressive kickboxing game. He’ll need to mix things up in order to get the win over Magny.

My Prediction: Neil Magny wins via unanimous decision

Like many other UFC betting experts, I expect a highly-competitive fight here. Both Magny and Martin are desperate for a victory. I just think Neil Magny has the slightly better skill set. I expect him to use his striking and occasional takedowns to earn the decision win.

Bet On Aljamain Sterling: -125 vs. Cory Sandhagen: -105

This is one I had to cover during this ultimate betting guide to UFC 250. Fans around the world are curious to see how this bout will play out. Most agree that the winner is next in line for a shot at the bantamweight championship of the world.

Aljamain Sterling saw his title run come to a screeching halt back in December of 2017 when Marlon Moraes knocked him unconscious. That loss proved to be a pivotal moment in his career. Aljamain has since won four straight fights, including a highly-impressive win over Pedro Munhoz in his most recent bout. This is Sterling’s chance to prove he has championship potential.

Cory Sandhagen has been quietly moving up the bantamweight rankings. With five-straight UFC wins, many feel he deserves a crack at the title. He’s technically the underdog here, yet the odds are so close that it doesn’t really matter.

My Prediction: Cory Sandhagen wins via 3rd-round TKO

In some ways, this is a classic grappler vs. striker matchup. Sterling almost certainly has the better submission game while Sandhagen is more dangerous on the feet. I think Cory manages to avoid getting tapped out while landing hard strikes through two rounds. Eventually, he’ll manage to overwhelm Sterling to get the late TKO stoppage.

Bet On Raphael Assuncao: +125 vs. Cody Garbrandt: -155

We’ve now arrived at the co-main event of UFC 250! Some are surprised to find this bout so high up on the card, especially considering a higher-ranked bantamweight bout is taking place earlier in the night. For what it’s worth, this should be a highly entertaining bout.

Raphael Assuncao is one of the most consistently-successful fighters in MMA. There was a time when many felt he was the dark horse of the bantamweight division. After two-straight losses, some are writing Raphael off in this fight. I think that’s a big mistake.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Cody Garbrandt looked like the next big star in MMA after winning the 135-pound championship against Dominick Cruz back in 2016. He’s lost his past three fights by KO, though, and one more loss might spell the end of his run as a title contender.

My Prediction: Raphael Assuncao wins via 1st-round KO

I don’t expect this fight to go the distance. The way Cody Garbrandt fights almost guarantees this. At some point in the first round, this will end up being a fire-fight. When that happens, I think Assuncao lands a knockout punch.

Bet On Amanda Nunes: -650 vs. Felicia Spencer: +425

The main event of UFC 250 features the greatest female fighter of all time, Amanda Nunes, against Felicia Spencer. On paper, this should be an easy victory for Nunes. When taking a close look at the stylistic matchup, however, you see the potential for a monumental upset.

Amanda Nunes is thought of as one of the best fighters on the planet right now. She has won her past 10 fights, seven of which have been title fights. She’s the current 135-pound and 145-pound champion and has faced almost no adversity in recent years. For obvious reasons, most analysts predict she gets the easy victory on Saturday night.

You can’t count Felicia Spencer out, though. Despite her relatively limited experience, she’s found tremendous success in the UFC. She even gave Cyborg Santos all that she could handle back in July of 2019. With odds of +425, she might be the best underdog pick on the entire card.

My Prediction: Felicia Spencer wins via 2nd-round submission

This is a fight that was initially scheduled to take place in Brazil last month. Some might feel that this prediction ruins this ultimate betting guide for UFC 250. I’ve gone back and watched both of these fighters compete and now feel that Spencer gets the win. She’s the bigger fighter and will use her incredible grappling to pull off the submission in the second round.

Ultimate Betting Guide for UFC 250: Honorable Mentions

I’ve now covered each of the main-card fights scheduled to take place this weekend. As you can see, fans might be in for some major upsets. The prelims are offering some great opportunities to win big too.

One fight that’s drawing my attention is the one between Charles Byrd and Maki Pitolo. I was surprised to find that Pitolo is entering as the underdog. He has serious power and can quickly put Charles Byrd away. I think he gets the first-round KO in this fight.

The final preliminary fight between Chase Hooper and Alex Caceras is also a highly-intriguing matchup. If this fight hits the mat, Hooper should get the win. I think Caceras has the skills to keep things standing, though, and may be able to get the unanimous decision win.

We’re in for a great night of fights. UFC 250 might not feature quite as many high-profile bouts as some other cards this year, but all of the fights have the potential to be extremely exciting.
