Last season, the 49ers had top seeding following a 12-5 campaign. They own a 26.7% implied probability of repeating, while the Lions (+550) are expected to be competitive, with a 15.4% chance.

NFC Favorites in 2024-25

Let’s delve into the NFC Championship 2025 betting odds and analyze the top favorites at online sportsbooks. Oddsmakers believe these teams have the best chance to win the NFC title for the 2024-25 season:

San Francisco 49ers (+250)

    • NFC Position in 2023-24: Champions
    • Key Players: Christian McCaffrey (RB), Deebo Samuel (WR), Brock Purdy (QB), Nick Bosa (DE), Fred Warner (LB)
    • Total NFC Championships: 8 (1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, 1995, 2013, 2020, 2024)
    • Head Coach: Kyle Shanahan

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the most complete teams in the NFL. The roster has talent on both sides of the ball to have success again this season. 2023-24 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Christian McCaffrey, returns to an offense that suits his talents.

The trade to the 49ers from the Carolina Panthers was a positive career move for McCaffrey. He went from a weak offensive line to one of the better offenses in the NFL. The ability to line McCaffrey and wide receiver Deebo Samuel up anywhere on the field is a problem for defensive coordinators.

No. 2 receiver Brandon Aiyuk remains in a contract dispute with the 49ers. He will likely take this down to the wire before Week 1 to try and force the Niners’ hand. In any event, the 49ers have a well-rounded offense with quarterback Brock Purdy running the offense!

The defense possesses two of the best disruptors in football, as edge rusher Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner lead a strong unit. Last year, the 49ers ranked third in the NFL, yielding 17.5 points per game. Defensive tackle Arik Armstead’s absence will be felt in 2024-25, but the defense will be one of the better ones in the NFC.

Detroit Lions (+550)

    • NFC Position in 2023-24: Loss in NFC Championship
    • Key Players: Jared Goff (QB), Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR), Jahmyr Gibbs (RB), Sam LaPorta (TE), Aidan Hutchinson (DE)
    • Total NFC Championships: 0
    • Head Coach: Dan Campbell

After reaching their first NFC Championship Game since the 1991 season, Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions are looking to achieve even more in 2024-25. The Lions came up short in a 34-31 final at Levi’s Stadium, but it was a season to remember.

Heading into the 2024-25 campaign, there is plenty of reason for optimism in the Motor City. The Lions bring back one of, if not the best offensive lines in football. Led by Penei Sewell, they will move bodies and clear running lanes this season!

Second-year running back Jahmyr Gibbs is ready for a big season behind this offensive line. The passing game is in good hands after the organization locked up quarterback Jared Goff on a four-year, $212 million extension.

When this guy has time to throw, he is one of the strongest passers in the NFL. Pressure him, and he folds, but the Lions’ offensive line affords him plenty of protection. Goff will have his favorite target back, as 24-year-old wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown inked a four-year extension worth $120 million.

The offense finished third in the NFL, roughly four yards behind the 49ers, with an average of 394.8 yards per game. With several weapons at Goff’s disposal and an elite offensive line, expect more of the same.

The defense has a chance to be great, and the additions of DJ Reader and Marcus Davenport bolster a strong defensive line. In the secondary, safety Brian Branch has an opportunity to turn into a star in his second season. The Lions are primed to get back to the NFC Championship Game!

Philadelphia Eagles (+600)

    • NFC Position in 2023-24: Loss in NFC Wild Card Round
    • Key Players: Jalen Hurts (QB), Saquon Barkley (RB), A.J. Brown (WR), DeVonta Smith (WR), Jordan Davis (DT), Jalen Carter (DT)
    • Total NFC Championships: 4 (1981, 2005, 2018, 2023)
    • Head Coach: Nick Sirianni

Did we witness the downfall of the Philadelphia Eagles last year? After a 10-1 start and the favorite at Super Bowl betting sites in late November, the Eagles finished the season with losses in five of their last six games.

The Eagles’ year came to an end disappointingly with a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. Despite a tough ending, the Eagles are highly unlikely to fall off this season. In fact, Jalen Hurts has more weapons to work with this season.

For the first time in his career, top-tier running back Saquon Barkley is on a team with a strong offensive line. The 27-year-old is poised for a career season in this offense. The QB option with Hurts and Barkley on the field will cause defensive coordinators lots of headaches.

Additionally, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith will see more opportunities with defenses having to honor Barkley’s ability. I view this offense favorably in 2024-25!

Despite losing Haason Reddick on defense, young defensive tackles Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter are ready to take leaps forward.

Some NFL pundits are down on the Eagles this season, but I don’t see them regressing to irrelevancy. On the contrary, the Eagles are going to be one of the most dangerous teams in the league. With a stout defense, strong offensive line, and multiple playmakers, don’t look past the Eagles’ 2024-25 NFC Champion odds at +600!

Best Sleepers for the NFC Title in 2024-25

Your NFL betting card for the NFC Championship should include two or three sleepers who have a chance of upsetting the field!

While the odds for the 2025 NFC Championship do not suggest they have the best probability, it’s worth backing these teams to win:

  1. The Rams are being overlooked on sports betting apps and sites, but that means there is great value at +1200. Barring injuries, Matthew Stafford has several dangerous weapons in the offense. Cooper Kupp, Puka Nacua, and Kyren Williams are a dynamic trio with the potential to have an incredibly productive season.

Future Hall of Fame defensive tackle Aaron Darnold’s retirement is making bettors hesitant, but the defense is still expected to be at least an average unit. An average defense might be good enough with a healthy Stafford on the field, so consider the Rams for your NFC Championship picks at +1400!

  2. Although the Seattle Seahawks will find it difficult to upset the Rams and 49ers for the NFC West title, there is a decent chance they get into the playoffs as a wildcard.

If quarterback Geno Smith can revert to his 2022-23 form, the Seahawks will be a competitive squad. He has a solid receiving core, with DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba is due for a jump in his second season.

The Seahawks got it right when they hired head coach Mike Macdonald. The former Michigan and Ravens’ defensive coordinator’s philosophy is likely to make an impact on the team in 2024-25. If everything comes together quickly for Macdonald, the Seahawks could have a shocking effort in 2024-25!

NFC No. 1 Seed 2025 Predictions and Betting Pick

Before an NFC champion is crowned, the top seed in the NFC Playoffs must be awarded! Building on an outstanding campaign in 2023-24, expect the Detroit Lions to rise to the occasion in the regular season.

There aren’t any significant holes on this roster. The same old Lions moniker is dead and buried. If you look up and down this roster on both sides of the ball, the Lions have the talent to pile up the wins in 2024-25.

A strong offensive line and defensive line that can get after opposing quarterbacks is a top recipe for winning football games. The Lions have both, and playmakers are in key positions to boot!

If the Lions didn’t get robbed late in the season against the Dallas Cowboys, there was a chance at the No. 1 seed in the NFC. This year, the Lions won’t allow it to come down to one play! Back the Lions to take the No. 1 in the NFC!

NFC Championship 2025 Predictions and Betting Pick

After the Lions take the No. 1 seed in the NFC, they should continue to be tough to beat in the playoffs! They have post-season experience now, so this matters, too. The core of this team is coming off a trip to the NFC Championship Game, so this well-coached squad will be expected to win this time.

When it comes to Goff, he’s already been to a Super Bowl and two NFC title matchups. It wasn’t too long ago you couldn’t have said this regarding the Lions, but this 2024-25 roster qualifies as having postseason experience.

In a showdown against either the 49ers or Eagles, the Lions should prevail in a close contest. They are a strong NFC Championship bet at +550, so look into adding this wager to your card, too!
