NHL Teams vs Money lines Report Card: After 51 Games

NHL Teams vs Money lines After 51 Games - New York Islanders

The NHL has passed the NHL All-Star break and is now picking up steam as we near the end of the season. Every ten games or so throughout this season, I have written an article talking about money lines and how each NHL team does if you bet $100 on them every game. This allows the bettors to see how teams are doing when they are both favored and listed as underdogs. It also shows which teams are the best to bet on and which ones you should avoid. I take every money line off BetOnline before each game.

Must Read

After Saturday’s action packed day of NHL games, only two teams have not reached the 51 game mark of the season. The St. Louis Blues and the Florida Panthers are both sitting at fifty games this season. As we get closer and closer to the trade deadline, teams will look to build up their lineup, while others will look to trade away some players to build up for the next season. This should lead to an exciting finish to the season.

Top Teams

New York Islanders LogoNew York Islanders
The Islanders have been playing really well as of late and it has helped them jump up both in the standings and in the money line report. New York is sitting in the top spot in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 30-15-6. The Islanders were not expected to be good this season, so it has led to them being underdogs in a lot of their games.

  • $100 Bet on every Islanders game = +$1,304.76
< Tampa Bay Lightning LogoTampa Bay Lightning
Tampa Bay has been the best team in the NHL this season. The Lightning have a nine point lead for the top spot in the NHL with a record of 39-11-2. Tampa Bay is favored in most of their games by large money lines, but they rarely lose. Tampa Bay is a very safe team to bet on in most of their games this season.

  • $100 Bet on every Tampa Bay games = +$1,210.38
Calgary Flames LogoCalgary Flames
The Flames are behind only the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL standings this season. Calgary is at the top of the Western Conference standings with a record of 33-14-5. Calgary Flames has been playing well throughout this season, and their top six is really strong. I believe the Flames will be near the top of the Western Conference by the end of the season.

  • $100 Bet on every Flames games = $784.72

Bottom Teams

New Jersey Devils LogoNew Jersey Devils
After making a surprise appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season, New Jersey has dropped down in the standings, and money lines, this season. The Devils are the third worst team in the NHL this season. New Jersey has a record of 20-24-7 this season. The Devils has struggled to gain any consistency this season and I believe you should avoid betting on them in most cases.

  • $100 Bet on every Devils game = -$971.08
Florida Panthers LogoFlorida Panthers
The Panthers are another team that had higher expectations coming into this season, but have fallen short. Florida has a record of 21-21-8 this season, which has them in the bottom ten of the NHL.

  • $100 Bet on every Panthers game = -$864.74
Colorado Avalanche LogoColorado Avalanche
Colorado had an extremely promising start to the season, but have fallen down recently. The Avalanche are still much in the playoff hunt, though, with a record of 22-21-8. The Avalanche have been favored in a lot of their games, so their losses usually count more toward their money line total in comparison to their wins.

  • $100 Bet on every Avalanche game = -$858.21

Teams with Biggest Changes

Philadelphia Flyers LogoPhiladelphia Flyers

In my last article, the Flyers were one of the worst teams to bet on. Philadelphia has picked up their play as of late and it has shown in a big way in their money line numbers. If you bet $100 on all of the Flyers games in my last article, you would have lost $1,123.57. Now, Philadelphia would have lost you only $513.90. While the Flyers are still not a great team to bet on, they have picked up their play a lot as of late.

Washington Capitals LogoWashington Capitals

Washington has seen some surprising struggles as of late. The defending Stanley Cup Champions were struggling going into the All-Star break. The Capitals are still comfortably in the playoff picture, but they don’t want to be struggling like this as we get closer and closer to the playoffs. Last article, Washington would have won you $276.30. Now, if you bet $100 on all of their games, the Capitals would have lost you $75.62.

Anaheim Ducks LogoAnaheim Ducks

The Ducks have been on a slide for a little while now. Anaheim had a surprisingly strong start to the season, but quickly started hurting due to all their injuries. The Ducks have gone 21-22-9 this season, which has them near the bottom of standings. Anaheim would have lost you $67.17 if you bet $100 on all of their games last article. Now, the Ducks would have lost you $596.17 if you bet $100 on all their games.

Arizona Coyotes LogoArizona Coyotes

Arizona has played really well as of late and it has helped them jump up in the money line numbers. The Coyotes have still not been great, but they have gotten up to an even 23-23-5 record this season. Arizona would have lost you $536.44 if you bet $100 on all of their games in the last article. To this point in the season, the Coyotes would have lost you only $166.52. If Arizona can continue to pick up their play, they are a good team to consider betting on, especially since they are commonly listed as underdogs.
