NYE PFL Championship Betting Odds Are Still Available!

Custom MMA Background

2019 has been an incredible year for the Professional Fighters League. We’ve seen huge upsets and devastating finishes leading up to tonight’s finals, where six individuals will win $1 million. Now, some fantastic NYE PFL Championship odds are still available and fans around the country are making their last-minute bets.

It’s expected to be an incredible event. Each of the fighters competing tonight will be looking to give it their all. Today, I’m going to look at the odds for these fights, and discuss which fighter should come out on top.

The odds below are courtesy of BetOnline.ag, one of the best online sportsbooks in the US.

Without further ado…

Emiliano Sordi (-115) vs. Jordan Johnson (-115)

Kicking off tonight’s night of fights is a light heavyweight bout between Emeliano Sordi and Jordan Johnson. Both men have looked fantastic during the 2019 season. Many expect a highly competitive matchup in this bout and the NYE PFL Championship betting odds here reflect that.

Emiliano Sordi was somewhat of an unknown commodity before breaking through this season. He’d made appearances in major organizations in the past, yet he seemed to always fall short during the big fights. This hasn’t been the case in 2019, though.

Sordi won his first tournament bout with a TKO over Sigi Pesaleli. He followed that up with a first-round submission over Bazigit Atajev. He seemed to have turned the corner in his career and is now just one win away from a $1 million paycheck.

Jordan Johnson is another relatively unknown fighter who’s looked fantastic this season. He went to a draw in his first bout and won his second against Rashid Yusupov. Johnson has a smothering style yet there’s no doubt that Sordi has looked more impressive this season.

My Prediction: Sordi Wins Via 2nd Round TKO

Momentum is a major force in MMA. When a fighter is on a roll, he’s dangerous. To say that Emiliano Sordi is one a roll is an understatement. He’s on a four-fight win streak against real competition and should be able to secure the stoppage victory against Johnson tonight.

Lance Palmer (-1050) vs. Alex Gilpin (+750)

The biggest betting favorite of the night according to the NYE PFL Championship betting odds is Lance Palmer, who most believe will secure an easy victory over Alex Gilpin, a man he’s already beaten twice before. Anything can happen in MMA, though. A wager on the underdog would earn you some serious money.

Lance Palmer is a battle-tested fighter. He’s one of the men that fans have wanted to see in the UFC for years. Interestingly, he’s chosen to stay in the smaller promotions. When you look at his success, it’s easy to see why.

Palmer dominated the 2018 PFL season. In the end, he was awarded $1 million. He seems to be on the same track this year, with wins over Alexandre de Almeida and the aforementioned Alex Gilpin.

There aren’t many fans familiar with Gilpin. He’s a talented young fighter but can’t seem to get past Palmer. He first lost to him in May and fell once again in October. Unless he makes a serious change, he’ll suffer a third loss to the former Team Alpha Male product.

My Prediction: Palmer Wins Via Unanimous Decision

This is a tall order for Mr. Gilpin. Attempting to defeat a fighter that’s already beaten you twice is no easy task. It will take something special for him to get the win. I think Palmer utilizes a similar game plan that he did in the first two fights and gets the decision victory.

Natan Schulte (-240) vs. Loik Radzhabov (+190)

This is a fight that seems to be flying under the radar. It’s unfortunate, as this might be one of the most exciting bouts on the card. Both men have incredible grappling games and some solid striking skills.

Natan Schulte appears to be the more technical grappler. He’s won both of his 2019 tournament wins via submission, most recently in the second round against Akhmet Aliev. With a 19-3 record, Schulte is one of the hottest prospects outside the UFC right now.

Loik Radzhabov is no slouch either. The Tajikistan native has accumulated 13 wins in 14 pro fights and defeated some serious contenders already this year. It’s important to note that his first fight was a draw against Islam Mamedov.

Radzhabov managed to beat Chris Wade recently, and that’s no easy task. He showed an ability to take big shots during that fight. If he can avoid the submission of Schulte, he may be able to capture another decision win.

My Prediction: Schulte Wins Via 1st Round Submission

In some ways, this fight is similar to the one between Sordi and Johnson. One man has shown an ability to capture finishes. The other has squeaked past decisions. I generally go with the finisher and in this case, it seems like a safe bet. Most online sportsbooks seem to agree. Actually, it’s a little surprising to see these NYE PFL Championship betting odds as close as they are.

Ali Asayev (-600) vs. Jared Rosholt (+425)

Next up, fans are treated to a heavyweight fight between two veterans. It’s a classic Russia vs. USA matchup and fans are debating who will come out on top. According to most online sportsbooks, it’s Asayev.

That’s not entirely surprising. The Dagestan native is 8-0 in his career with several stoppage victories. So far during the 2019 tournament, he’s shown almost no weakness and most recently secured a late 3rd-round TKO win over Denis Goltsov.

Not long ago, Jared Rosholt was thought to be a serious force in the UFC. To the surprise of almost everyone, he was let go of the promotion after suffering a loss to Roy Nelson. He’s found success in the PFL since that time but hasn’t been able to win any major tournaments.

Perhaps this is the year. Rosholt has won his past three fights impressively. If he can employ his wrestling-heavy style, he has a real shot at pulling off the upset.

My Prediction: Rosholt Wins Via Unanimous Decision

Wrestling is perhaps the most useful tool to possess in MMA. Rosholt, coincidentally, is one of the best wrestlers at heavyweight. He’ll be looking to use this skill set against Asayev tonight. It won’t be easy, but he can win this fight via decision.

David Michaud (+120) vs. Ray Cooper III (-150)

Okay, this is probably the fight that fans are looking forward to the most. It’s a striking-heavy affair where both men have a shot at clipping the other. The odds reflect just how competitive the matchup should be.

Michaud is 18-5 in his career. Like so many fighters, he just can’t seem to get past the elite of the elite. Most of his losses have come to notable names including Li Jinliang, Dhiego Lima, and Olivier Aubin-Mercier.

Ray Cooper III has been called small for the welterweight division. He certainly doesn’t fight small. The Hawaiian native utilizes a Mike Tyson-like style to get close to his opponents and throw bombs. Of his 19 wins, 13 have come via knockout.

For a time, Cooper III looked like a future superstar. He defeated Jake Shields twice, yet has seen mixed results since that time. In July, he was knocked out by John Howard. It seemed as if his run in the 2019 tournament was over. After two impressive fights, he now finds himself in the finals.

My Prediction: Cooper III Wins Via 1st Round KO

Trying to pick a fight between two knockout artists is never easy. Generally, I go with the more technical striker. Ray Cooper III may not appear technical on the surface, yet his record proves just how good of a puncher he really is.

Kayla Harrison (-1000) vs. Larissa Pacheco (+700)

In the main event, the highest-paid female in MMA, Kayla Harrison, takes on her former foe, Larissa Pacheco. Most feel it’s an easy fight for Harrison. Pacheco has taken offense with that notion.

There are some reasons to believe this matchup won’t be competitive. Harrison is 6-0 in her professional career with almost all stoppages. Her only decision win came against Larissa Pacheco in May of this year.

She’s also an Olympic gold medalist in judo. Her grappling is perhaps the best we’ve seen since Ronda Rousey. Momentum is once again a factor here and in this case, Harrison is riding that momentum.

Larissa Pacheco is a very talented fighter. If Harrison weren’t around, she would likely be champ. It just seems unlikely that she’ll be able to get past the judoka.

My Prediction: Harrison Wins Via 3rd Round Submission

Kayla Harrison is a superstar in the making. She’s talented and has real personality. With just a few more wins, people may begin clamoring to see her take on Amanda Nunes in a UFC betting fan’s dream bout.
