This celebrity boxing thing just keeps gaining traction.
I’ll admit that I had never heard of either Logan Paul or KSI when I was first decided to write a prediction on their boxing match.
It didn’t take me long researching the two to feel out of touch and old. When I saw how many YouTube subscribers each young man had, I was blown away!
I figured the best way for me to start was to dive in and watch some of their videos instead of just reading other people’s opinions about the two.
Because, after all, a boxing match is still a fight and fighting is much more mental than it is physical.
I learned that each guy was very serious about this. They also both have massive egos, naturally, so their preparations would reflect that.
KSI allegedly trained with The Money Team for their second bout and it has been rumored that Logan Paul’s potential future opponent will enlist the help of the famed Las Vegas boxing academy.
Who is the next opponent of Mr. Paul? Well, I truly hope and believe it will be former NFL wide receiver, Antonio Brown. His ego is bigger than both Paul and KSI combined.
Both men have similar weight and Logan is a good athlete.
Antonio Brown, though, is a world-class athlete who is widely considered as one of the top five best receivers not only of his time but in the history of the NFL.
It takes a very good athlete to play at a high level in college football and to make it to the professional level, you have to be special. He did that and later became a multiple-time First Team All Pro wideout.
Paul lost versus KSI because of speed as well as a hesitancy not to pull the trigger. I’m not hating on the guy. I respect anyone who gets inside the ropes or cage to do battle.
The bright lights should dim slightly and thus I expect a better performance from Logan the next time he fights.
Brown, though, has been accustomed to said lights for over a decade now but speaking from experience, fighting is much much different. That adrenaline dump is a real thing.
Just like anything else in life, fighting or boxing takes practice and most guys start out with hard spars in their own gym, move onto a smoker between a couple of academies, and then several ammy bouts with headgear and big gloves.
The opening betting odds for this one were just absolutely absurd.
Logan Paul, who lost twice against an incredibly sloppy KSI, was a (+2000) favorite to defeat Brown who was sitting at a VERY pretty 10 to 1! That seriously couldn’t be more ridiculous.
Unfortunately, those odds are long gone as money poured in on the 31-year-old from Miami, Florida.
BetOnline.AG now has the potential pugilists at (-450) for Paul and Brown still holding value at (+250).
This is madness to me but let’s go ahead and break down the matchup from a technical perspective and make our prediction.
Logan Paul vs Antonio Brown
I’m still not very happy with Mr. Paul. I picked him to defeat KSI in their rematch and I, of course, failed you guys.
He was being trained by Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs. “LET’S GO CHAMP!”
Briggs has an incredible left hook and I saw how much Logan was incorporating it into his arsenal in training. I’m sure he was told to lead with his jab and mix in the left hook as a counter.
He did a great job of this and landed the hook with consistency. The jab wasn’t as effective mainly due to the anatomy and genetics of the two men.
KSI was faster, much faster.
Also, Paul had to punch down to hit him and KSI really only threw one type of punch the whole fight, the overhand right.
It was incredibly wild and looping but the speed and inexperience of Paul that led to the taller man getting caught over the top.
It was a very very close fight and rather controversial for a few reasons but I don’t need to get into that.
I have no idea if Antonio Brown can box or not but he is built quite similarly to KSI and is 10x a faster more explosive, and overall better athlete.
Here’s the kicker.
Antonio Brown is a southpaw. He can’t just take KSI’s winning blueprint and run with it. He’s going to have to straighten up his power hand shot as the best weapon for a lefty versus righty is that sneaky straight left.
Logan Paul has only trained to box one individual, KSI, who is right -handed.
Therefore, I believe experience and boxing technique won’t be as much of a difference between the two. This almost certainly closes the gap in favor of Brown.
If you think I’m laying 4 and a half points on Logan Paul to outbox an all-world athlete in his prime, you’re mistaken.
The only thing that is holding me back from laying down a boatload of cash on Brown is just the unknown. Fighting isn’t for everyone and heart is just one of those attributes you either have in you or you don’t.
KSI absolutely showed a great deal of heart in his fight with the taller longer larger Paul. He knew he had to work harder to get into range and even if it wasn’t pretty, he didn’t mind doing so.
Will Brown show as much grit and determination? We don’t know.
What we do know is he is at (+250) which is good enough for me at this point. Get on it now. If the fight doesn’t happen, you can get your money back.
If it does, then you will have better odds than everyone else from this point on. I can’t imagine people will be paying that kind of juice on Paul.
I want this one to happen!
Every time one of these celebrity boxing matches goes down or even is talked about, the possibility of others doing the same becomes much more feasible.
Logan Paul came out already on his Twitter and said:
i’d drop you faster than the patriots https://t.co/Vv592JRkxk
— Logan Paul (@LoganPaul) January 7, 2020
Not bad… I can see why he is famous. I couldn’t help but chuckle. I don’t, however, believe he will do it.
I would cap this one (-110) on both sides.
The fact that the opening betting odds had Brown as a 10 to 1 underdog and Logan Paul a 20, yes 20 to 1 favorite is mind-blowing.
Somebody call Rob Dyrdek because this is ridiculous.
Bettors apparently knew this as well as early money poured in on Brown and now we are sitting much closer but still with a massive disparency in the odds.
Get your bets in now unless you’re waiting on more value for Logan Paul.
In my opinion, though, Paul only holds value as a slight favorite, not (-450) for goodness sake.
