UFC Fight Night 205 Main Event Lemos vs Andrade

This main event takes place between #1 contender Jessica Andrade and Amanda Lemos, the #10 strawweights who’s moving up a weight class and getting a shot at title contention. Lemos is a slight underdog, similar to her +185 position loss against Leslie Smith. She has upset two favorites, Granger and Inoue at +175 and +135. Andrade is 2-1 as a flyweight after two losses at strawweight to the champ Rose and former champ Zhang at +200 and -172 respectively. She lost to champion Valentina Shevchenko as a +410. Her last two victories were at -206 and -151. Andrade has a knack for beating anyone who isn’t championship quality, and we’ll see if Lemos is ready for the best in the weight division against one of the UFC’s top gatekeepers.

Tale of the Tape for Lemos vs Andrade

Fighter Amanda Lemos Jessica ‘Bate Estaca’ Andrade
Age 34 30
Height 5’4’’ 5’1’’
Reach/Stance 65’’ Southpaw 62’’ Orthodox
Record 11-1-1 22-9
Submissions/TKO in UFC 1/2 2/5
Fighter Training Camp Marajo Brothers Team  Parana Vale Tudo
Sub/TKO UFC losses  0/1 2/3

Lemos is older but larger than her opponent. It’s hard to believe that frame made strawweight with any consistent success. Her last bout was fight of the night with Angela Hill, and she towered over Hill, knocking her down in the first round, but gassing a bit for a more competitive round three. Andrade once fought at bantamweight for a three year stretch, so she’s not small for the division, but was outsized by Shevchenko in her last loss. Andrade has more UFC finishes, but Lemos has a far better finishing percentage of total UFC bouts. She’s the favorite, but she’s been finished in five of her six UFC losses.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Lemos vs Andrade

Bet Odds
Lemos Money Line +160
Andrade Money Line -200
Over 2 ½ Rounds -150
Under 2 ½ Rounds  +115
Over 3 ½ Rounds  Even
Under 3 ½ Rounds  -130
Andrade by Points  +250
Andrade by TKO +225
Lemos by TKO  +400
Lemos by Points  +475
Andrade Inside the Distance  +140
Lemos Inside the Distance  +225
Fight Completes 2 Full Rounds -175
Fight Doesn’t Go the Distance  -220

Lemos is the underdog, with Andrade paying out $50 per $100 wagered. The over/under prop bets pay well, but not so well that we should count on a finish. Between the two of them, both have losses via knockout and submission, so oddsmakers see the under 3 ½ as a stronger favorite than either money line. Andrade or Lemos by TKO are good bets, but not better than the Fight Doesn’t go the Distance prop bet, indicating that either fighter could see a win. We could see different approaches given that they’re preparing for a five round bout.

UFC Fight Night Main Event Prediction

Our biggest concern with a Lemos win is the quality of the opponent. All of her opponent’s added together have 18 UFC wins, with the majority of these fighters having only one win a piece. Four of those wins come from Leslie Smith, who’s last UFC fight was beating Lemos in 2017. Meanwhile, Andrade has fourteen UFC wins on her own. She’s fought the who’s who of straw and flyweight divisions. Though, she’s only won two of her last five. For thai reason we’re betting the ‘Fight Doesn’t Go to Decision’ Prop at -220. It pays only slightly less than the Andrade money line. Andrade has had one decision in her last seven fights, and zero decisions in her last four wins. This fight is likely going to be a firefight, and we know that both fighters can be put to sleep with strikes.

UFC Fight Night 205 Co-Main Event Guida vs Puelles

Clay Guida had a beautiful showing in his last fight just five months ago. He’s 3-3 over his last six fights, but the excitement of a Guida fight never fails. Guida was a +200 in his last win, and a +152 in his last loss. He also upset Michael Johnson at +175, but was a -650 in his win over BJ Penn. Puelles has won four straight, finishing two UFC bouts by kneebar, which may be a UFC first. He’s been the favorite in every other bout, and his only UFC loss was to Marvin Bravo as a slight -110 to -105 favorite.

Tale of the Tape for Guida vs Puelles

Fighter Clay ‘The Carpenter’ Guida Claudio ‘El Nino’ Puelles
Age 40 26
Height 5’7’’ 5’10’’
Reach/Stance 70’’ Orthodox  72’’ Southpaw
Record 37-18 12-2
Submissions/TKO in UFC 5/2 2/0
Fighter Training Camp Alliance MMA  Sanford MMA
Sub/TKO UFC losses  7/2 0/1

Clay is the older, smaller fighter. Claudio will be utilizing his youth advantage by either rushing Guida or drawing the fight out. Whatever he does, he can’t let Guida dictate the pace. Guida has more total UFC losses via finish than wins, as his aggressive style has him winding up in submissions again and again. He’s performed better over his last three fights since his camp switch to Alliance MMA.
Claudio’s only loss in the UFC is via knockout from Martin Bravo, a fighter who’s since been outstruck in three fights running. It’s safe to say that Puelles’ strong suit is his grappling, and if Guida can stop the takedown he should be able to win a boxing match.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Guida vs Puelles

Bet Odds
Guida Money Line -110
Puelles Money Line -110
Over 2 ½ Rounds -220
Under 2 ½ Rounds  +165
Over 1 ½ Rounds  -350
Under 1 ½ Rounds  +250
Guida by Points  +150
Guida by TKO +600
Puelles by Submission  +450
Puelles by Points  +200
Guida Inside the Distance  +425
Puelles Inside the Distance  +225

Prop bets like Guida by TKO are very long shots, as Puelles has good submission skills and Guida rarely finishes at a distance. Fans of Puelles may enjoy the Puelles by submission prop bet. Guida has seven submission losses, Puelles a 30% submission ratio. It fits well.
I like the Over 1 ½ Rounds prop, as the majority of both fighters finishes are outside of round one. Guida’s last round one finish was Joe Lauzon in 2017.
We feel the money line bets are your best choice, and that we could see anything happen for round one, considering Puelles has been knocked out once, and Guida is arguably the best striker he’s faced, or at least the most experienced.

UFC Fight Night 205 Predictions

Guida is a gamesman, and will produce a game plan he thinks can offer him the win against Puelles. It’s clear that going to the ground against Puelles is a bad move, and that if Guida can keep the fight standing, he’ll have a good night. Puelles’ stats show a 38% takedown accuracy and 2.8 average takedowns per fight. Guida shows a 68% takedown defense and 3.2 takedowns per fight. I’m not concerned with Guida’s grappling endurance, and I think that he could even find top position for ground strikes. Both of the fighters Puelles submitted have more UFC losses than wins, and without a submission finish, I don’t see a path to victory for Puelles. Expect him to get outworked by the forty year old Carpenter at -110 and get a $91 return per $100 wagered.

UFC Fight Night 205 Main Card Barber vs Rosa

Barber broke a two fight losing streak in her last bout, making her 5-2 for the UFC. She’s up against Montana de la Rosa, a fighter in a similar situation at 5-2-1 in the UFC. Both fighters are dangerous finishers that have lost via decision. Barber upset her last opponent at +142, losing at -110 and -900. She’s been the favorite in six of her seven UFC bouts and continues that trend over Rosa. Rosa has been the favorite for their last two going 1-1. She lost as the underdog to Andrea Lee at +160 and Araujo at +170. If she wins, this will be the biggest upset of her career. To date.

Tale of the Tape for Barber vs Rosa

Fighter Maycee ‘The Future’  Barber  Montana De La Rosa ‘Monty’
Age 21 27
Height 5’5’’ 5’7’’
Reach/Stance 65’’ Switch 68’’ orthodox
Record 9-2 12-6-1
Submissions/TKO in UFC 0/4 3/1
Fighter Training Camp Team Alpha Male Team Elevation
Sub/TKO UFC losses  0/0 0/0

We have an equal number of finishes in this bout, with Rosa having age, experience, and size over Barber. Neither fighter has been finished and feels like we can expect a long decision with periods of intense and dangerous exchanges. They’re fighting at two of the top camps in the world, with plenty of high level sparring partners. Barber likely has a slightly better environment overall due to the various sizes of fighters at Alpha Male.

Maycee’s finishes are notably all KO’s but mostly from ground strikes.
Barber’s switch stance is a boon against the takedowns of Rosa, and her 66% takedown defense shows that.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Barber vs Rosa

Bet Odds
Barber Money Line -193
Rosa Money Line +154
Over 2 ½ Rounds -275
Under 2 ½ Rounds  +200
Over 1 ½ Rounds  -500
Under 1 ½ Rounds  +325
Barber by Points or TKO -175
Rosa by Submission or Decision +165
Rosa Inside the Distance  +500
Barber Inside the Distance  +300

Barber is a strong favorite, and her ‘points or TKO’ prop is her highest value bet at -175, just slightly below her -193 money line. Rosa inside the Distance is a decent bet. Maycee has never been submitted, so it’s tough to bet on Rosa being the first to pull it off.

The Over is a top bet, considering that neither fighter has been finished inside the UFC, so Over 2 ½ Rounds at -275 matches each fighters losses but covers for last minute knockouts, such as Barber vs Colleen in July 2018 on DWCS, a 3rd round TKO.

Barber vs Colleen UFC Fight Night 205 Prediction

Barber is very talented and gets better with every fight. Her striking defense was sloppy when she entered the UFC, and her two decision losses were wars that many fans had her winning. Maycee’s stoppages have mostly been from top position on the ground. She’s larger than the majority of her opponents and cuts serious weight.

Rosa is more patient in her striking, and that patience cost her the win against Araujo. Araujo found a way to punch through the guard of Rosa again and again. Rosa is used to winning in the body lock position, but I see Barber overpowering her there. Expect a long fight with Maycee Barber ending as the winner, a -193 favorite money line. Barber pays out $52 per $100 wagered.

BOVADA

UFC Fight Night 205 Main Card Sumudaerji vs Kape

Mudaerji is on a three fight winning streak after losing his UFC debut. He was on TUF, but failed to win the show, coming back the same year and fighting once per year since 2018, recently receiving a visa to train in the USA. Sumadaerji has ranged from -365 to +145 in his UFC career, upsetting Andre Soukhamthath in 2019 in his second showing. Kape is 2-2 in the UFC. He lost two close decisions at the beginning of his UFC career at -125 and +100. He came back to win as a major favorite in his next two bouts. Kape was also a fighter for Rizin 2017 to 2019 with varying success and -230 to +530 odds.

Tale of the Tape for Sumudaerji vs Kape

Fighter Sumudaerji ‘The Tibetan Eagle’ Manel ‘Starboy’ Kape
Age 26 28
Height 5’8’’ 5’5’’
Reach/Stance 72’’ Southpaw  68’’ Southpaw
Record 16-4 17-6
Submissions/TKO in UFC 0/1 0/2
Fighter Training Camp American Top Team  AKA Thailand
Sub/TKO UFC losses  1/0 0/0

Sumudaerji enjoys a three inch height and four inch reach advantage, though Kape has more UFC finishes and has never been finished. I would also argue that Kape has the experience advantage having faced many top level fighters for RIzin including former UFC fighters like Ian McCall. AKA Thailand is a fantastic training environment, as is ATT.
UFC stats show Sumudaerji has a better defensive striking ratio, absorbing 2.19 strikes per minute in comparison to Starboys 4.3 per minute.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Sumudaerji vs Kape

Bet Odds
Kape Money Line -179
Sumudaerji Money Line +147
Over 2 ½ Rounds -175
Under 2 ½ Rounds  +135
Will the Fight Go the Distance, Yes -135
Will the Fight Go the Distance, No -105

Kape is a slight favorite, but the oddsmakers are more in favor of a long fight. As of 4-20-2022, no other fight props are available for this bout. Kape’s aggression has him as the superior fighter, but I’m skeptical. He’s lost both fights where he came in under -200.
Sumudaerji’s only UFC loss is via submission, and due to his high striking defense, he’s a strong fighter against anyone willing to exchange at a distance.

Predictions for Sumudaerji vs Kape

Kape’s striking power over his last two bouts has been tough to match. He fought four times in 2021, so I’m concerned why we couldn’t see it in his first two UFC bouts. Nicholae and Pantoja are both top tier UFC talent, who’ve only lost to the best the division has to offer. The last two fighters he defeated have below UFC winning percentages overall. Sumudaerji is somewhere in the middle.
Sumudaerji winning his last three convinces me we’ll see a longer fight. He’s likely to look for takedowns against Starboy, and boxes alot like like Matheus Nicolau, landing a similar strike count. Our betting pick is the Over 2 ½ Rounds prop bet at -175. Our UFC Fight Night 205 prediction pays out $57 per $100 wagered.

UFC Fight Night 205 Main Card Romanov vs Sherman

The undefeated Romanov is back in the cage after four straight wins. He’s ranged from -138 to -500 over his last five fights and is at his most favored position ever. Sherman is coming off a three fight losing streak, throwing away six fights of his last seven. He’s now gone 3-8 since entering the promotion. He’s been the underdog in the majority of losses with odds ranging from -230 to +250, with no upset wins to his name. This is our parlay pick of the evening, but we’ll also explore some valuable prop bets.

Tale of the Tape for Romanov vs Sherman

Fighter Alexandr Romanov ‘King Kong Chase ‘The Vanilla Gorilla’ Sherman
Age 31 32
Height 6’2’’ 6’4’’
Reach/Stance 75’’ Southpaw  78’’ Orthodox
Record 15-0 15-9
Submissions/TKO in UFC 2/1 0/2
Fighter Training Camp Lion Club Sanford MMA
Sub/TKO UFC losses  0/0 1/3

Romanov has no UFC losses, but comes in a bit smaller than Sherman. Sherman has far more experience, but far more total losses overall. Sanford MMA is a more proven training facility, but Romanov is quickly putting Lion Club on the map. He has ten first round finishes, and Sherman has only two UFC losses in the first round, with the other two coming in the second and third rounds.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Romanov vs Sherman

Bet Odds
Romanov Money Line -1400
Sherman Money Line +850

Due to the one sided nature of this bout, many sites aren’t carrying odds for this one. However, I think -1400 is a steal and will be parlaying this fight at Betonline.ag.
Currently there are no prop bets available. Should one become available, look to be the Under 1 ½ Rounds prop on Romanov if you’re looking to avoid the parlay win. Our betting pick is Alexandr Romanov at -1400, a $7 return per $100 wagered without a parlay.

Can Sherman Upset Romanov?

In our minds, no. Sherman will look for the knockout, but he gives up takedowns against moderate grapplers like Parker Porter with relative ease. Don’t be fooled by his 77% takedown defense, Sherman hangs on the overhook to avoid the takedown and walks himself against the cage. This will open him up for Romanov’s trips in a big way. Don’t count on the upset, even though the payout is tempting.

UFC Fight Night 205 Main Card Jourdain vs Vannata

Jourdain has been the favorite in his last three, going 2-1. He lost to Andre Fili as a +191 and Desmond Green as a +600. His only career upset was Dooho Choi, a second round knockout as a +335 underdog. Vannata is 4-6-1 in the UFC since joining the promotion in 2016. Recently, he upset Mike Grundy at +113, but lost to Bobby Green as a -135 favorite. Oddsmakers have struggled with Vannata, with oddsmakers calling his fights correctly under 50% of the time.

Tale of the Tape for

Fighter Charles ‘Air’ Jourdain Lando ‘Groovy’ Vannata
Age 26 29
Height 5’9’’ 5’9’’
Reach/Stance 69’’ Switch  71’’ Orthodox
Record 12-4-1 12-5-2
Submissions/TKO in UFC 0/2 1/1
Fighter Training Camp Academic Pro Star MMA  Jackson Wink MMA
Sub/TKO UFC losses  1/0 1/0

It’s stunning how closely matched these two are on paper. Similar losses, finishes and overall records. Vannata has a slight reach advantage and is three years older. He was also a division 1 wrestler and is currently a BJJ brown belt. Stats show Jourdain’s takedown defense to be 48%, offering Vanatta an opportunity for more takedowns. He averages 1-2 per fight, but has scored as many as four against fighters like Bobby Green.

Jourdain’s intensity is showy, but I think he still has some fundamental holes in his grappling.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Jourdain vs Vannata

Bet Odds
Jourdain Money Line -125
Vannata Money Line +105
Over 2 ½ Rounds -190
Under 2 ½ Rounds  +145
Over 1 ½ Rounds  -400
Under 1 ½ Rounds  +275
Jourdain by TKO +300
Vannata by Submission  +1400
Vannata Inside the Distance  +325
Jourdain Inside the Distance  +275

To my surprise, Vannata is a clear underdog. His submission prop is at +1400, which is odd because I think he has a decent chance of a submission win. Jourdain has shown weaknesses in his ground game that I believe Vannata would be a fool not to capitalize on. The over unders are a crapshoot, as both fighters have about a 40-60% chance of going the distance depending on how many fights you include. Jourdain by TKO is a fine prop, but Vannata’s chin is fantastic, and he’s never been knocked out. I see Vannata by submission as surprisingly compelling.

UFC Fight Night 205 Predictions

I see Vennata winning the majority of grappling exchanges. His kickboxing tends to even out in 1:1 at a distance, but with Grundy and Yancy he was able to put together serious combination work. The timing of Bobby Green threw Lando off a bit, but I see Jourdain as the right fighter to display many of his overlooked skills.
Jourdain has a high punch volume, but still gets hit with plenty of strikes. His UFC wins have been mostly over fighters amid losing streaks, or in Marcelo Rojo’s case, no UFC wins at all. Expect this fight to be competitive, with Vannata able to capitalize with a decision or submission win. Our bet is the Lando money line at +105, an upset victory for double your money.

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Wright vs Barriault

Wright lost his last bout as  a-280 underdog. He’s 2-1 with 1 no contest for the UFC, upsetting Jamie Pickett at +100 and losing to Buckley as a +200 underdog. Barriault lost his last fight ending a two fight winning streak. He’s 2-4 with 1 no contest as well, and lost via knockout in sixteen seconds as a -105 favorite. His two wins were both as the favorite at -157 and -121, and he was the underdog in all four losses.

Tale of the Tape for Wright vs Barriault

Fighter Jordan ‘The Beverly Hills Ninja’ Wright Marc-Andre ‘Powerbar’ Barriault
Age 30 32
Height 6’2’’ 6’1’’
Reach/Stance 77’’ Switch  74’’ Orthodox
Record 12-2, 1 NC 13-5, 1 NC
Submissions/TKO in UFC 0/2 0/1
Fighter Training Camp Dynamix MMA  Sanford MMA
Sub/TKO UFC losses  0/2 0/1

Wright is the bigger man, with more knockout wins but also more knockout losses. He was also knocked out in his DWCS appearance but the loss was overturned due to cannabis use. Baurrialt has the more conservative style, absorbing only five strikes per minute compared to Wrights’ eight strikes. If this sounds high to you, it’s because it is. Both men get hit a lot.

UFC Fight Night 205 Betting Odds for Wright vs Barriault

Bet Odds
Wright Money Line +148
Barriault Money Line -175
Over 2 ½ Rounds +110
Under 2 ½ Rounds  -145
Over 1 ½ Rounds  -150
Under 1 ½ Rounds  +115
Wright by TKO +400
Barriault by TKO  +145

Barriault is the favorite, but don’t be so quick to bet the under. His only finish took place in the third round, so even if he’s scoring the knockout, it could be late in the fight. I’m willing to bet this fight is far longer than anticipated. Wright has more KO wins, but Barriault’s chin has stood the test of the majority of fighters, save powerful new comers like Njokuani.

Barriault vs Wright Prediction

I see a slugfest, as do the majority of analysts. Neither fighter has much of a grappling game, and neither are big on self preservation. While the Under 2 ½ Rounds prop is a tempting second place, our pick is Marc Barriault’s money line. He’s the better striker, he gets hit less often, and Wright’s chin can’t seem to hand;e much volume at this level of competition.

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Grant vs Khandozhko

Grant is coming off a loss as a +120 underdog. He defeated Sekulic at -175 and lost to Rodriguez at +175. Grant’s career in the UFC has been predictable from the oddsmaker’s perspective. Khandozhko is 1-1 in the UFC, and similarly predictable.

Bet Odds
Grant Money Line EVEN
Khandozhko Money Line -120
Over 2 ½ Rounds -175
Under 2 ½ Rounds  +135
Grant by TKO +325
Khandozhko by TKO  +650

Sergey Khandozhko is a slight favorite, though Grant has better finishing props, and for good reason. Still with the oddsmakers accuracy for both fighters, our betting pick is Sergey Khandozhko at -120. He’s tough to get a bead on, and he’s done well against Rustam Khabilov despite losing a definitive decision.

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Pedro vs Villanueva

Oddsmakers see a quick win for Tyson Pedro. He’s 3-3 in the UFC, losing via finish in his last two to decent fighters in Rua and OSP. Pedro has been out since 2018. He returns against Villanueva, a fighter 1-4 in the UFC. Ike has been knocked out four times by four light heavyweights. He’s struggled not to get hit, with an average 8 strikes absorbed per minute.

Bet Odds
Pedro Money Line -650
Villanueva Money Line +410
Over 1 ½ Rounds +145
Under 1 ½ Rounds  -190
Pedro By TKO  +200
Villanueva by TKO  +600

With Pedro out for three years, I’m skeptical of any money lines. There’s no telling how this fighter will show up in the cage, despite training footage. He’s being coached by a relatively unknown gym with little UFC level acumen. Our betting pick is the under 1 ½ Rounds betting prop. Ike Villanueva comes out with a kill or be killed attitude and hasn’t had a fight last longer than two minutes into the second round. Let’s hope he keeps his strategy.

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Aorigileng vs Else

The Mongolian Murderer Aorigileng is now 0-2 in the UFC. He faces 0-1 in the UFC Cameron Else. While it’s difficult to say how they will perform, it’s clear Aorigileng is better at taking a punch and staying in the fight. Our betting pick is the Aorigileng money line at -240.

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Parsons vs Elder

Some betting sites aren’t carrying this fight. While Bovada and Betonline don’t have it yet, we may see some late odds. Our pick is Evan Elder. He’s from Sanford MMA and is undefeated at 7-0. He’s finished five of his seven pro fights and was a decorated 6-1 amatuer with multiple wins via finsih ranging back to early 2015. If odds become available, bet the Elder money line of Parsons, who struggled in his debut and multiple bouts outside of the UFC.

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Prachnio vs Lins

Prachnio won his last two after getting knocked out three times in a row. He faces lins, now 0-2 in the UFC. Prachnio has the momentum on his side, and Lins is dropping down from heavyweight to light heavy.

Bet Odds
Prachnio Money Line -124
Lins Money Line EVEN
Over 1 ½ Rounds -150
Under 1 ½ Rounds  +115

Marcin Prachnio’s decision win over Khalil Rountree Jr gives me hope for him. He struggled against three solid fighters in his opening fights, but Lins didn’t have it easy either, losing to Tanner Boser and Andre Arlovski. I see a long fight, and for that I’ll bet the Over 1 ½ Rounds at -150. Third round knockouts are possible for either fighter, and we don’t know what Lins can do with a little more power at 205.
PLACE YOUR BETS NOW!

UFC Fight Night 205 Prelims Barry vs Jackson

Dean Barry is the second biggest favorite of the night. He’s a UFC debuting fighter with a 4-1 record. This welterweight has knockout power, finishing all four of his wins. However, he struggles with grappling and was choked by a 2-5 fighter in 2018. Presumably his grappling improved, but his quality of opponent is very low.
Jackson has gone 0-1, and 1 no contest after defeating CM Punk but testing positive for Cannabis use.

Bet Odds
Barry Money Line -1500
Jackson Money Line +675
Over 1 ½ Rounds -150
Under 1 ½ Rounds  +115

Barry’s record is all first and second round finishes, but we’re not convinced he’s going to beat Jackson so easily. His last opponent was a fighter with a 6-30 record, another was 1-1. Our betting pick is the Under 1 ½ Rounds at +115. Jackson could put Barry out, or even end up submitting the kid. We just don’t know yet.
