Mairis Briedis vs. Artur Mann Boxing PIck and Betting Analysis

Arthur Mann, the formber IBO Title Challenger takes on the current Cruiserweight IBF champion in Mairis Briedis. Briedis only has one loss at cruiserweight to Oleksandr Usyk. WIth Usyk gone to heavyweight, Briedis is on the road to being the most dominant active cruiserweight on the planet, with upcoming bouts to unify the belts as soon as people stop dodging him.

This is yet another win we’ll either be trying to parlay with other confident bets, or look for props with likely outcomes that can boost our payout.

Mairis Briedis vs. Artur Mann Odds and Props:

Fighter Money lines and payout per dollar  Over/Under 4 1/2
Mairis Briedis -3300, $0.03 O   -135, $0.74
Artur Mann +1200, $12 U  +105, $0.95

Briedis is a strong favorite with a paltry payout. Over Breidis’ last five, we’ve seen only one knockout, taking place in round three. Mann’s only KO loss took place in round four. If we determine that Mann simply isn’t on the level, the Under 4 ½ rounds prop has a great payout. Fourteen of Briedis’s career KOs fall into the under 4 ½ round category.

Other Prop Bets Available for Mairis Briedis vs. Artur Mann

Prop Bet Odds
Fight Goes to Decision +550
Fight Doesn’t Go to Decision -900
Briedis TKO -699
Briedis TKO Win Rounds 7-9 +350

This fight has no shortage of props available.  You’ll be able to call which round the finish will be in for either fighter. I’ve listed some of the most common props. We may find that the fight doesn’t go to decision prop has the most confident payout at $0.11 per dollar wager.

The Breidis by TKO prop shows us -699, a much better payout than his -3300 moneyline. There are multiple reasons I believe in a Briedis finish.

Briedis needs exciting fights to unify the belts. His management will be pushing a KO victory.
Briedis personally promised a slug fest, and tends to deliver.
Briedis usually comes out swinging, and his hook heavy style is exactly how Kevin Lorena knocked Mann out in the fourth.

Mairis Briedis Record, Style, and Strategy

Mairis is coming off the -180 favorite win over Dorticos. His last loss was against Oleksandr Usyk as a +350 underdog.

Mairis Briedis’s Last Five Bouts

Opponent  Yuniel Dorticos Krzysztof Głowacki  Noel Gevor Mikaelyan Brandon Deslaurier Oleksandr Usyk
Opponent TKO/WIn 22/24 19/31 11/25 1/12 13/19
Outcome Unanimous Decision WIn KO Round 3 WIn Unanimous Decision WIn Unanimous Decision Win Majority Decision Loss

Artur Mann’s knockouts to wins ratio is  9/17. Better than two of the fighters that Briedis went to decision with, but not as impressive as the top three Briedis opponents.

The most concerning case is Brandon Deslaurier, who took Briedis to a decision and simply absorbed his onslaught. Brandon was 11-1 coming into the fight, and still hasn’t been knocked out despite four decision losses.  Brandon’s strategy was to shell up and shoulder roll for ten rounds. We’ll have to chalk it up to an off night for Briedis, who’s other performances show a fighter capable of breaking through a majority of defensive tactics.

Usyk vs Briedis Punch Tracker

Fighter  Total Punches Landed  Power Punches Landed
Usyk 215 121
Briedis 195 139

Briedis landed more power strikes in his fight with Usyk by 18. The fight was a majority decision win, meaning that one judge declared the bout a draw. This is Usyk’s most competitive fight to date, If you have any misunderstanding about how tough Briedis is to deal with, consider that he did more to fight the champ than Anthony Joshua by a long shot.

Artur Mann Record, Style, and Strategy

Mann’s last major bout was against Kevin Lerena. He came in as a +220 underdog and lost by fourth round TKO.

Artur Mann’s Last Five Bouts

Opponent  Rad Rashid Soso Abuladze Kevin Lerena Alexey Zubov  Alexander Pell
Opponent KOs/TKOs 16/20 8/12 13/26 9/17 6/10
Outcome Round 3 TKO Win Unanimous Decision Win Round 4 TKO  Loss Unanimous Decision Win Unanimous Decision Win

Artur Mann’s fights with Lerena and Pell were both for the WBO Cruiserweight Title. The quality of these opponent’s is wildly varying, with Soso Abuladze sporting a 12-16 record at their time of fight. During the Rad Rashid fight Artur showed improved boxing from the Lerena fight.

Zubov is an interesting case, because he had the power to finish Mann but chose to pick jabs at the guard and play Manns game. Zubov’s conditioning faded and he lost the last half of the fight without doing much of anything.

How do Mairis Briedis and. Artur Mann’s Styles Match Up?

I don’t see how Mann can win this bout. Briedis is gritty and won’t go down easily. Mann doesn’t move often enough to avoid the exchanges. Once Briedis is inside throwing haymaker combinations, it will be a matter of time before there is a finish.

Rashid looked scared to exchange with Mann, and continued to snipe from the outside. This kind of fight serves Mann, who loves to sit at jab range and wait for you to half step in. Briedis will move forward and bully his gloves until he starts landing.

Mairis Briedis History of Dirty Boxing

Another factor is Briedis bending the rules of boxing. He’s mean, and is willing to do anything to hurt the opponent. It’s not enough to get him disqualified in the past, but it is enough to have a psychological effect on the opponent. Almost all of the fighters he faces complain to the ref. He blatantly head butted Usyk, he lost a point for elbowing Krzysztof Glowacki after a Glowacki rabbit punch, and he regularly punches downed fighters if the ref doesn’t jump in.

My Final Pick for Mairis Briedis vs. Artur Mann

Round calling feels a bit risky here, so I’m avoiding the over/under props. Artur isn’t the best defensive boxer. Even Alexander Pell failed to properly open up on Mann. Lerena was the first decent boxer willing to sit down and throw shots, and it worked.

Briedis will blast through Mann’s guard for the early finish. To learn more about boxing betting and analysis, check out our boxing guides.
