Arizona Wildcats vs. USC Trojans Pick – NCAAB March 1, 2022

The Arizona Wildcats and USC Trojans meet at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. Arizona is a top contender in the NCAA with a record of 25-3.

They are heading into this Pac-12 matchup with a record of 15-2 in the conference and ranked No. 2 in the country. As good as Arizona is this season, the Pac-12 hasn’t been the most reliable team in the NCAA Tournament.

If there’s a team to go on a deep run from the Pac-12, it’s usually a team that you may not expect. Oregon State was the 2021 Pac-12 team to emerge out of nowhere.

The Beavers reached the Elite Eight after getting hot at the right time. Is there going to be another team like Oregon State in the Pac-12?

Looking at what’s going on at the moment, maybe that team is the Colorado Buffaloes. Arizona has certainly looked like the most dangerous in the regular season, though.

The Wildcats are coming off a 79-63 loss at Colorado versus the Buffaloes. It was a discouraging performance from Colorado to end a nine-game winning streak.

Credit Colorado for essentially booking a ticket to the NCAA Tournament with that win. We’ll see if USC has the same effort in them as the Buffaloes.

USC is coming off a 70-69 win at Oregon on Monday. That was a gutty performance from USC. The Ducks were playing good basketball and had home court, but USC was determined to leave with a win.

The Trojans are going into tonight with a record of 25-4 and 14-4 in the Pac-12. They are a team that can be good, though not the most dependable.

Arizona vs. USC Prediction:

Arizona will be looking to bounce back following a sloppy effort at Colorado. Working in USC’s favor is that Arizona has been beatable on the road.

The Wildcats are third overall with 84.4 points per game. They are still dangerous as a visiting team, with 81.9 points per game and a 47.6% field goal percentage.

However, the defense takes a blow when they take a trip to an opposing campus. Arizona is allowing 66.7 points per game on 37.8% shooting, but that falls to 71.5 points per game and a 39.7% FGA on the road.

The Buffaloes did a fine job pushing Arizona out of the paint. Christian Koloko had just 4 points and 5 rebounds, well below his season average.

USC has a talented forward that should be able to limit the Wildcats in the frontcourt as well. Isaiah Mobley is going into tonight with 14.6 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game on 45.6% shooting.

Arizona Wildcats vs. USC Trojans Betting Trends:

  • 1-4 ATS in their previous five games after a loss
  • The favorite is 0-6 ATS in their previous six games versus USC
  • 1-6 ATS in their previous seven games versus USC
  • 2-6 ATS in their previous eight games in March
  • 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games after failing to cover the spread
  • 5-0 ATS in their previous five games as an underdog
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five games versus a team with a winning percentage better than 60%
  • 8-3 ATS in their previous 11 games versus a team with a winning record on the road
  • The underdog is 6-0 ATS in their previous six games
  • UNDER is 5-0-1 in their previous six games as an underdog

USC is the sixth-best team in the NCAA, with a 38.1% this season. They are better at home with a 37.9% FGA at home. This is how the Trojans can beat the Wildcats tonight.

USC can use their length with Mobley and the frontcourt to force Arizona to the perimeter. Their scoring touch hasn’t lived up to expectations this season, but have been solid at home.

I think USC will find room. The Trojans have scored 76.6 points per game on 47.3% shooting on the campus of Southern California this year. Arizona has conceded more than 70 points on the road.

I’m on the Trojans in a spotlight game in the Pac-12. In one of their biggest games, expect the Trojans to be ready for the Wildcats. USC getting points at home has to be worth considering in the late game on Tuesday night.
