Creighton Bluejays at Seton Hall Pirates – NCAAM January 27

7:00 p.m. ET – No.17 Creighton (-1.5) at Seton Hall O/U:148

The 11-4 Blue Jays head on the road to take on the 9-6 Pirates tonight. Creighton defeated UConn 74-66 last Saturday. Meanwhile, Seton Hall has not played since losing a 76-74 heartbreaker last Tuesday at No. 3 Villanova. These two teams met on Jan. 6 and things did not go well for Seton Hall. The Pirates shot 33 percent from the field and 16 percent from 3-point range an embarrassing 89-53 loss for Seton Hall. The Blue Jays shot better than 50 percent from both the field and from behind the arc in that lopsided contest..

Teams Spread Money Line Total Points
Creighton -2 (-105) -133 O 148 (-102)
Seton Hall +2 (-115) +113 U 148 (-118)

Creighton BluejaysCrieghton is led by guards Denzel Mahoney and Marcus Zegarowski, who average 15.4 and 14.4 points per game, respectively. The dynamic duo was held to only 25 points combined in the last meeting, but that hardly mattered. It was the bench that made a huge difference on that occasion, with the Blue Jays out scoring Seton Hall 31-14 in that department. Seton Hall is led by Sandro Mamukelashvili, who leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 18.4 points and 7 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-11 forward is a nightmare matchup for anyone in the country, and the big man scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Pirates’ last game against Villanova.

Seton Hall Pirates LogoSeton Hall is 10-5 against the spread this season and playing its best basketball of the season. As tempting as that may be to go with them and the 1.5 points, the glaring mismatches in this game are still there that were first exposed in Creighton’s 36-point rout of the Pirates earlier this month. Seton Hall has no answers for Creighton’s depth and outside shooting. This game likely will be much closer than the first matchup. Expect Seton Hall to throw the book at Creighton with defensive schemes: constantly switching from zone, to man-to-man, to a full-court press. The Pirates will try and do anything they can to throw the Blue Jays offense out of rhythm, but at the end of the day Seton Hall has no answer for Creighton’s talented, high-scoring backcourt that likely will provide even more production than it did in the last meeting between these two teams. Back Creighton to complete the season sweep of Seton Hall.
