Florida A&M Rattlers vs. Oklahoma Sooners Pick – NCAAM December 12, 2020

The Florida A&M Rattlers are in Norman, Oklahoma in search of an upset at Lloyd Noble Center. They are getting handed a tough matchup in this one, though. Florida A&M catches Oklahoma in a spot where they’re likely going to be angry and looking for somebody to beat up following their effort against Xavier.

In a spread that was close to a pick’em, Xavier ran away for a 99-77 win. The defense was paper thin in that one, as they showed no resistance against a good Xavier squad. The Musketeers are a good basketball team, but a little better effort from the Sooners was expected.

With the loss for Oklahoma, they fell to 2-1 on the season. Oklahoma blew the snot out of UTSA in their season opener, 105-66, and then played a close one against the TCU Horned Frogs on December 6. Oklahoma emerged with a 4-point win over TCU behind a big performance from Austin Reaves.

Reaves went off for 32 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds. Xavier was able to do a much better job containing Reaves, as he was quieter for 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Forward Brady Manek led the Sooners in scoring for the second consecutive game. He recorded 17 points against the Musketeers on the road.

The Rattlers played a respectable contest against the Georgia Bulldogs on November 29. They fought hard on the road, and came up with a 85-75 loss. It wasn’t a win, but Florida A&M made Georgia work for it in the second half. The Bulldogs had just a 1-point advantage on Florida A&M going into halftime.

Florida A&M were way off the mark in their next outing, though. The Oregon Ducks weren’t fooling around against the Rattlers. Oregon put them away early, with a 47-35 lead going into the half. The Ducks ultimately cruised for a 87-66 win to put Florida A&M away with ease.

If Oklahoma was coming off a win at Xavier, I would put more faith in Florida A&M maybe catching a sleepy Oklahoma team on Saturday. However, it was a bad loss for Oklahoma, and they can’t be content with that performance. Head below for our free Florida A&M vs. Oklahoma pick for December 12, 2020.

Florida A&M Rattlers vs. Oklahoma Sooners NCAAF Betting Odds:

  • Florida A&M +25 (-105)
  • Oklahoma -25 (-115)

  • Florida A&M OFF
  • Oklahoma OFF

  • Over 148 (-115)
  • Under 148 (-105)

Florida A&M vs. Oklahoma Prediction:

The Oklahoma Sooners are going to come out firing on Saturday against Florida A&M. That is what they do best. They like to play to their strengths and put up as many points as they can without much regard for defense. That is going to be their undoing against good teams, just look at what happened against Xavier. Oklahoma went fast and it resulted in 99 points for the Musketeers.

Against a team like Florida A&M, they won’t have to worry about the Rattlers turning the table around, though. They don’t have the athletes to beat Oklahoma in a run and shoot game. The Sooners are scoring an average of 88 points per game for 25th in the NCAA. However, conceding 81 points per game isn’t going to put too many wins on the board. The Sooners rank 280th in the NCAA defensively.

Sure, yeah, Oklahoma doesn’t have to contend with the Xavier offense on Saturday, but Florida A&M hasn’t been that terrible offensively. They’ve scored 65.7 points per game, which is respectable considering a game against Georgia and Oregon in two games. Florida A&M scored 75 points in a 85-75 loss against Georgia, and then 66 points in a 87-66 loss most recently on Wednesday versus the Ducks. They are shooting 46.7% from the field, which is more than acceptable.

Oklahoma isn’t a team that has put much pressure on offenses this season, so there should be opportunities for the Rattlers to put some points on the board in this contest. The Sooners may very well run away with this game, and they should, but it’s hard for me to lay 25 points. That has the makings of a backdoor or meaningless bucket with under a minute left to ruin the spread. Either way, we should see plenty of points here, with the OVER an attractive bet in Norman.
