Fordham Rams vs. Davidson Wildcats Pick – NCAAB March 11, 2022

The Fordham Rams and Davidson Wildcats are scheduled to meet in the Atlantic 10 on early Friday afternoon. Fordham had to win their opening-round matchup to get here, while Davidson was sitting out on a bye week.

The Rams beat the George Mason Patriots by a score of 54-49 on Thursday. They didn’t get the most scoring in that one, but it didn’t matter with George Mason failing to hit anything.

There was only one player in the starting lineup that scored in the double digits. That was a win for Fordham, but the Patriots bailed them out with a sloppy offensive effort.

Fordham doesn’t have the best defense. It was more of a case of George Mason failing to hit open shots. Against any other team, the Rams probably aren’t here right now.

The Rams are 16-15 and 8-10 in the conference going into this one. They have been up and down, with wins in five of their previous eight outings. The oddsmakers did not expect Fordham to get this far.

Fordham was a 6.5-point underdog and won straight up by 5 points. Again, though, how much of that was Fordham than George Mason having a bad day at the office? Fordham was pretty fortunate.

There will have to be multiple breaks go in Fordham’s direction for this to work out well on Friday. This isn’t going to be the same class of competition.

Davidson is the class of the Atlantic 10 after winning the regular season title. They went 25-5 with a mark of 15-3 in the A-10 this season.

Davidson enters off an 82-76 loss to Dayton last Saturday. That ended a five-game winning streak, but the Wildcats can start another and most important win streak today.

Fordham vs. Davidson Prediction:

Fordham did what they had to against George Mason, but they are taking a monumental step up in class in this round. The Rams weren’t able to show off their offense against George Mason.

Despite the win, they only scored 54 points, which carries on from their output in the regular season. Fordham struggled to score consistently and failed to find a spark when needing it the most.

The Rams are 346th in the NCAA with a field goal percentage of 39.8%. They are 287th with an average of 66.8 points per game.

Fordham is shooting just 39.8% from three for 346th in the nation. They don’t do anything especially well and shot only 38% in their last five attempts.

Davidson doesn’t look like the best spot for Fordham after beating George Mason. They’ve already discovered how tough it can be to defeat Davidson earlier in the season.

Fordham Rams vs. Davidson Wildcats Betting Trends:

  • 2-6 ATS in their previous eight games after allowing fewer than 50 points
  • 5-18 ATS in their previous 23 games on a Friday
  • 2-8 ATS in their previous ten games versus Davidson
  • 1-9 ATS in their previous ten games on a Friday
  • UNDER is 9-3 in their previous 12 games as an underdog
  • 4-0 ATS in their previous four games versus a team with a winning record
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five games
  • 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games on a Friday
  • The favorite is 8-2 ATS in their previous ten games versus Fordham
  • UNDER is 6-1 in their previous seven games versus a team with a winning percentage better than 60%

Davidson beat Fordham at home on 66-45. It was a road game for Fordham, but it was another example of how bad their offense can be. They can’t go through a cold stretch Friday, or it will be a similar story.

The Wildcats are too good on both ends of the floor for Fordham to bring a similar performance this afternoon. Davidson is 18th in the NCAA with a 48.4% field goal percentage and dangerous from three.

The Wildcats are connecting at a 38.7% clip from three for the ninth-best mark in the NCAA. The defense has really been the difference recently, though.

Through their last five outings, Davidson has conceded 59.4 points per game and a 38.3% FGA. That’s tough to beat when the Wildcats can win with their offense or defense.

The oddsmakers seem to like Fordham enough to keep them at an 11-point underdog versus the vastly superior Wildcats. There could be a false perception of Fordham after winning as a 6.5-point underdog.

Davidson isn’t Geroge Mason, and that’s a good thing, though. Look for the Wildcats to come out of the gate firing this season. Davidson should clear and cover for an 82-64 win in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
