The George Mason Patriots and Davidson Wildcats have an Atlantic-10 meeting at Belk Arena. Davidson has two games left on the schedule and looking to wrap up a solid campaign with an A-10 regular season title.
Davidson faces resistance from VCU, but this is looking pretty good for the A-10 leading Wildcats. The Wildcats are entering tonight with a record of 24-4 and 14-2 in the conference.
They are on a four-game winning streak and won eight of their last nine games. Their only loss during that stretch is an uncharacteristically bad performance versus Rhode Island on February 12, 72-65.

— Davidson Basketball (@DavidsonMBB) March 1, 2022
More was expected out of Davidson against an opponent like Rhode Island, but in a season where nowhere has been perfect in the NCAA, it’s going to happen to the best teams.
The Wildcats pulled off four straight wins since the loss. They are coming off a successful outing versus the Fordham Rams on Saturday. This followed a 74-50 win over Duquesne a few days earlier.
In their most impressive win, Davidson pounced on Saint Louis for a 79-58 win. That was impressive as a 1-point favorite. Davidson goes into tonight covering three straight games.
George Mason isn’t a major contender, but they’re going to be involved in the A-10 Tournament. Do they have an upset in them?
It’s going to be tough against Davidson, VCU, Dayton, and even St. Bonaventure. St. Bonaventure is the one sleeper to look out for in the conference tournament.
George Mason enters at 14-13 and 7-7 in the conference. The Patriots are coming off a 69-62 win at home over George Washington to avoid a three-game skid.

George Mason vs. Davidson Prediction:
George Mason has it tough tonight against one of the best shootings teams in the NCAA. The Patriots will be forced to play a smart offensive game or this is going to be difficult.
Davidson is 60th in the NCAA with 75.9 points per game on 48.2% shooting. Their field goal percentage is one of the best in the country.
They are 18th in the NCAA from the field and especially dangerous from three. The Wildcats are 10th in the nation with a three-point percentage of 38.5%.
The Wildcats have been most dangerous at home, where they are shooting 48.9% from the field with 78.1 points per game.
What I don’t see happening tonight is the George Mason defense pushing back strong enough to deter Davidson at home.
The Patriots have been mediocre against the three. Strong perimeter defense is required to hold off Davidson, which George Mason does not have in their arsenal.

Overall, the Patriots are 161st with 68.4 points conceded per game. The Wildcats have the edge defensively, as they’re 74th in the NCAA with 65.6 points against a game.
Davidson has been aggressive at home and forcing teams into committing plenty of mistakes. They have allowed only 62.3 points per game on 39.2% shooting. Combine that with 78.1 points per game and the Wildcats are in serious business.
George Mason has lost to Davidson in four straight meetings. In their most recent, Davidson defeated the Patriots by a score of 99-67. This should be closer, but expect the Wildcats to have the upper hand for a win and cover. The line at 7 points looks too short.
