Last Time Out

The Hoosiers’ Trayce Jackson-Davis proved to be too much for Stanford as he scored 31 points in leading Indiana to a 79-63 win over the Cardinal in the third place game of the Camping World/Maui Jim Classis in Asheville, N.C. He was 10-of-16 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the free throw line as he had 12 quick points to start the game.

M.J. Walker scored 17 points and Balsa Koprivica added 13 as Florida State’s rolled to an 86-58 win over North Florida in it’s only game thus far. The Seminoles out rebounded the Ospreys, 42-27 and outscored UNF, 19-3, on the glass. They also turned the Ospreys over 24 times and scored 29 points on those.

Crimson and Cream

Indiana Hoosiers LogoRace Thompson and Aljami Durham provide excellent complements to Jackson-Davis and his scoring and rebounding prowess (21.5 ppg/7.0 rpg). Thompson is tough on the glass as well with 7.0 boards per game as he shoots 60.7 percent from the field. Three-point defense could play a key role in this game as Indiana limits it’s opponents to 23 percent over the Hoosiers’ four games while FSU made only 7-of-24 in the win over North Florida. The Hoosiers’ certainly noted that the Ospreys made 11 triples although Indiana shoots only 29.3 percent from behind the arc and only four players have made more than one 3-pointer.

On the Reservation

Florida State Seminoles LogoLeonard Hamilton features another squad that will play 10 or 11 people and they possess the length and athleticism to exploit and disrupt Indiana on offense. Texas totally disrupted the Hoosiers with pressure and depth, which are staples of FSU’s culture and attack. In the last three seasons combined, FSU held it’s opponents to 66.4 points per game as they shot only 40.7 percent from the floor in those three years combined.

Koprivica and freshman phenom Scottie Barnes had their first career starts against UNF. Barnes made four of 11 shots and will grow into a role where he can take over a game for the Seminoles as the season moves forward.
