The 2-12 Cyclones travel to Lawrence, Kansas and Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday night to take on the 13-7 Jayhawks. Iowa State has lost eight games in a row, most recently falling 79-76 at TCU on Tuesday. Kansas picked up a much-needed quality win on Monday over Oklahoma State, 78-66. These two teams were originally scheduled to play earlier this season, but COVID-19 issues within the Cyclones program forced the two schools to reschedule and now are set to play twice in the next three days.
The Cyclones are paced by guard Rasir Bolton, who leads the team in points, rebounds, assists and steals. Bolton had 26 points in their last game against TCU and has recorded at least 15 points in each of his last six games. Bolton has been Mr. Consistent this season for the Cyclones, having scored in double figures in all but one game so far this season.
Kansas, on the other hand, is led by committee with five players that average over 10 points per game. On Monday, it was forward David McCormack who led the way with 23 points and 10 rebounds en route to the big victory over Oklahoma State.
The Cyclones have covered in six of their past seven trips to Allen Fieldhouse, showing that they have been more than comfortable there even with fans in attendance. Iowa State boasts the best perimeter defense in the Big 12, holding opponents to 29.8 percent from 3-point range. Kansas has enough of an edge to win this game inside the paint, but covering a 15-point spread will be a different story. Take the 15 points and back the Cyclones, considering they have come closer to outright upsets in the last three than not covering the double-digit spreads.
The Pick: Iowa State +15
