Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils vs. Grambling State Tigers Pick – NCAA February 1, 2021

The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils and Grambling State Tigers meet in a SWAC clash on Monday night. There are only three ranked teams on the schedule Monday, so get used to small conference basketball today. The Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Tech Red Raiders highlight the card, as the No. 24 Sooners are in Lubbock looking for an upset against No. 10 Texas Tech.

That should be a must-watch contest, and if you check back at the college basketball page, we might have a selection for the Sooners and Red Raiders game. I will be paying attention to that one closely, but my money is going to be deep in the south in Grambling, Louisiana. Mississippi Valley State are looking for their first win of the season after suffering another embarrassing loss on Saturday.

The Delta Devils are coming off a 106-56 loss against Jackson State this weekend. That loss was preceded by a 102-61 loss against Southern, then Prairie View, 77-31, and failed to show up a couple of days ago yet again. Jackson State might be 3-0 in the conference, but they’re just 3-5 overall and shouldn’t be beating up on conference opponents 106-56. When it’s against the Delta Devils, anything is possible, though.

Mississippi Valley State goes into Monday with a record of 0-14. There has to be a win for them somewhere on their schedule? The oddsmakers are certainly going to disagree with that sentiment. Expect Mississippi Valley State to be an underdog in all of their remaining games. The Delta Devils will be down to nine games on the schedule following the conclusion of this contest against Grambling State.

The Tigers are coming off a nice 74-71 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff on Saturday. It’s their fourth win in seven outings. Grambling State is not the best team in the SWAC, but respectable with a record of 6-8 and 4-3 in the conference. Meanwhile, Mississippi Valley State can’t buy one win, and I don’t think they are going to win before next season. We’ll see if something has changed since the weekend, though. Head below for our free Mississippi Valley State vs. Grambling State pick on February 1, 2021.

Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils vs. Grambling State Tigers NCAA Betting Odds:

Mississippi Valley State vs. Grambling State Prediction:

I don’t know if there is much Mississippi Valley State can do to stop the bleeding. There might be one or two games down the stretch that are closer than anticipated, but this is a really bad basketball team. They have no depth and do nothing special on either side of the floor. Where do we start? Let’s go with the defense which ranks dead last in the nation. The Delta Devils are allowing the most points in the country.

It takes a lot of hard work to give up 94 points per game through 40 minutes of basketball. Mississippi Valley State has mastered it and even better on the road. The Delta Devils are giving up just under triple digits with 98 points conceded per game on the road. Overall, they are 347th in the NCAA defensively. Their effort offensively has been abysmal as well.

Mississippi Valley State is scoring just 54.2 points per game for 345th. I can confidently say that the Delta Devils are the worst team in the nation. There is Gonzaga on one side, and then you can find Mississippi Valley State on the other end. And no, there aren’t any serious injuries to report. In fact, staying healthy is the only thing they’ve succeeded at in the 2020-21 campaign.

The Tigers have numbers that the Delta Devils would only dream of. Grambling State has netted 63.7 points per game for 321st in the NCAA. That isn’t good by any means, but we’ve seen some bad offenses slice through Mississippi Valley State like they’re Gonzaga or Baylor. The defense has been a strong point for the Tigers. They’ve conceded 68.5 points per game, 138th in the NCAA. I see something like a 83-55 win for Grambling State.
