Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Texas A&M Aggies Pick – NIT March 23, 2022

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Texas A&M Aggies meet in what should be an entertaining NIT matchup in College Station.

As we get deeper into the tournament, the NIT has some entertaining ball games. The NCAA Tournament isn’t the only game in town for sports bettors.

If you are limiting yourself to the NCAA Tournament then you aren’t doing it right. There are good opportunities to be had on the NIT floor.

This should be a good game for spectators whether you want to bet Wake Forest vs Texas A&M or not. If you’re a fan of basketball, this should be a good one between two teams in good form.

I wouldn’t have argued against either team going to the NCAA Tournament. Despite not doing enough to get the nod, Wake Forest and Texas A&M had fine seasons.

The biggest surprise had to be Texas A&M. It seemed like they did enough after going to the SEC Championship. However, the Aggies received the cold shoulder from the NCAA committee.

Texas A&M goes into tonight with wins in nine of their previous ten attempts. They tripped up against the Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC Championship, 65-50, but have otherwise been tough.

The Aggies are coming off a 75-60 win over the Oregon Ducks on Saturday. This was an impressive display after going through the motions in a 74-62 win over Alcorn State in the NIT opener.

Wake Forest has been in good form lately as well. They’ve won four of their previous five attempts, covering all four wins. Wake Forest held off a pesky VCU team for an 80-74 win to get to College Station.

The winner goes to the semifinals in NYC at Madison Square Garden. Head below for our free Wake Forest vs. Texas A&M prediction on March 23, 2022.

Wake Forest vs. Texas A&M Prediction:

Texas A&M did everything right down the stretch besides beat Tennessee. That was a disappointing performance after the Aggies were on the edge of going to the NCAA Tournament.

It didn’t look like Texas A&M wanted to be in the NIT given their lack of effort versus Alcorn State. That was a close game at the break before the Aggies woke up.

A matchup versus Oregon from the Pac-12 motivated the competitive spirit in Texas A&M. Texas A&M needs to play like that again on Wednesday night or risk failing to get to New York. It’s especially true for the defense that needs to be in top form.

A tough VCU defense was unable to bother Wake Forest, and that was a case for a lot of defenses in the ACC this season. The Deacons can blow a defense up in a hurry when they’re feeling good.

And they feel good more often than not this season. Wake Forest is 18th in the NCAA with 79.5 points per game and a field goal percentage of 48.9%. In their last five attempts, they’ve been on fire with 86.2 points a game and a 51.6% field goal percentage.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Texas A&M Aggies Betting Trends:

Wake Forest
  • 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games as an underdog on the road
  • 4-1 ATS in their previous five games
  • 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games as an underdog
  • 6-2 ATS in their previous eight games versus a team with a winning record
  • 8-3 ATS in their previous 11 games on a Wednesday
Texas A&M
  • 7-1 ATS in their previous eight games after a win
  • 8-2 ATS in their previous ten games
  • 6-1 ATS in their previous seven games on a Wednesday
  • 0-4 ATS in their previous four games versus a team with a winning record on the road
  • OVER is 7-1 in their previous eight games

Texas A&M doesn’t have an offense that has kept up Wake Forest’s productivity. They are 133rd with 73.1 points per game and a 44.4% field goal percentage.

While Texas A&M has been winning games over the last month, the Aggies cut many of them close, including needing overtime against Florida in the SEC Tournament opener.

Through their previous five outings, Texas A&M scored 69.6 points per game and a 43.4% field goal percentage. The defense was in good form, with 62.6 points against and a 37.4% field goal percentage.

The Demon Deacons have played well on the road this season, covering the spread in seven of ten games going into tonight. With their hot strike offense shooting the ball well at the moment, look for Wake Forest to keep this one close.

Wake Forest is well balanced in the front and backcourt. They should do enough to keep Texas A&M off balance on Wednesday night. I will fade the public and take the points.
