Washington State Cougars vs. Oregon State Beavers Pick – NCAAB February 28, 2022

The Washington State Cougars and Oregon State Beavers have a Pac-12 After Dark matchup in Corvallis. Washington State requires a strong finish through their last three regular season games.

At 15-13 and 8-9 in the Pac-12, Washington State is on the bubble as we go into March. They’ve tripped all over themselves over the last few weeks. Washington State was on a good path, but have only themselves to blame.

The Cougars are losers in six of their previous seven attempts, with a win on February 23 against Washington their only win since a February 5 win against a bad Cal squad.

Washington State beat their inter-state rival, 78-70, and then dropped by the same score at Washington a few days later. The Cougars came close against USC before that sequence, 62-60.

This doesn’t look like an NCAA Tournament team. When I say strong finish, it’s probably going to take a solid appearance in the Pac-12 Tournament as well. Oregon State doesn’t have these problems.

The Beavers wish they had the same problems, as they weren’t fortunate to even have a bubble. Oregon State is going into this one with a record of 3-24 and 1-16 in the Pac-12.

That’s not what Oregon State was looking for this season. They had got hot at the right time last season and made it all the way to the Elite Eight. No such magical run is in the cards in 2022.

Oregon State is coming off a 94-55 at home versus UCLA in a lifeless effort on Saturday. This followed a spirited effort against USC in overtime. The Beavers came to play, but edged in the extra session, 94-91.

On a 14-game losing streak, Oregon State will look to snap out of it on Senior Night. Head below for our free Washington State vs. Oregon State prediction on February 28, 2022.

Washington State vs. Oregon State Prediction:

Washington State has relied on their defense this season because the offense sure isn’t winning games for the Cougars.

The Cougars aren’t winning period lately, though. They are going into Oregon State with just 64.6 points per game in their previous five outings.

The Cougars are shooting just 33.8% from the field during that time even with the 78-70 win versus Washington. Washington State is connecting at a less than desirable clip of 39.4% on the road.

Washington State’s defense has done its best to hold up, as they’re 37th in the NCAA with 63.8 points per game and holding teams to a 41.2% field goal percentage.

Oregon State doesn’t boast the best numbers. That’s going to happen when you have a record of 3-24. However, they’ve shown up in spots, and this could be one of those nights.

Oregon State came up big in a loss against USC on Thursday. Despite the loss in overtime 94-91, the Beavers have played tough in spots this season.

On Senior Night with nothing to lose in the final game at home, expect the Beavers to put up a decent fight against Washington State. Laying 8 points with Washington State on the road doesn’t present much value.

Washington State hasn’t shown much motivation recently, and going to Corvallis probably isn’t something to be motivated about at Oregon State.

After getting torched following a solid effort versus USC, look for Oregon State to keep this one close to cover the 8 points.
