In this Matchweek 7 matchup, winless Newcastle United will welcome Leicester City at St. James Park.
Newcastle United have struggled this season and are still looking for their maiden victory in the English Premier League this season. In their defense, the Magpies had the most difficult opening schedule in the EPL, where they had to face Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea in a matter of weeks. Newcastle United finally have a winnable game at home with hot-cold Leicester City coming to town.
Leicester City are a picture of inconsistency this season. After losing their season opener to Manchester United at Old Trafford, they have won 2 straight by defeating Wolverhampton and Southampton. Then they lost a pair of games to Liverpool and Bournemouth, only to win against Huddersfield Town last matchweek.
Newcastle United did beat Leicester City last season, but that game was played at the King Power Stadium. At St. James Park, Newcastle have lost 2-straight matches to Leicester City, with their last win at home way back in 2014. Overall the matchup has been pretty even with Newcastle winning 4 matches, Leicester City winning 5 and 1 draw.
I have prepared a short breakdown of the match and some betting predictions, so feel free to read on.

Newcastle United vs Leicester City Pick
Newcastle United are struggling this season and find themselves in the middle of the relegation zone in EPL. A lot can be attributed to the difficult schedule, but still, Newcastle United are underperforming this season. The board and the fans expected the Magpies to fight for a Top 10 finish this year but they have managed to show the form and consistency to win this season.
Newcastle United defense has already allowed 8 goals in 6 matches, while their attack has struggled, scoring only 5 goals in the same timeframe. A lot of pressure will be put on Rafa Benitez if once again he misses out on the opportunity to win at home. Newcastle United will also be missing the services of Lejeune (knee injury) and Rondon (thigh injury).
Leicester City have struggled to protect their goal as well. They have allowed 10 goals in their first 6 games but at least the attack has been on form, scoring 11 goals in the same time period. The Foxes have failed to deliver consistent performances in the English Premier League this season, so there is always a question mark about which Leicester City side will show up on Saturday at St. James Park.
Newcastle United are unlikely to change their style under Rafa Benitez and will approach the game cautiously and try to protect their net in the first place. They will try to use their quick transition and counter-attacks with Perez up front. Defensively, Newcastle will start out aggressively and press the Leicester City midfielders in order to gain back possession.
Leicester City are more likely to dominate the possession in this matchup and try to create goal-scoring chances through intricate buildup. Leicester City have lost a lot of their offensive potency with the departure of Riyad Mahrez, but they still have James Vardy who is capable of scoring against anyone.
I find it tough to pick a winner in this one. Newcastle United have given me little confidence this season to pick them, despite their home field advantage and Leicester City has been extremely inconsistent in their performances. I feel that the Magpies will use the crowd and tactics to slow down this game and try to contain Leicester City’s attack.
I feel that this game will be decided by a single goal in a low scoring affair. Even a draw is not out of the question here. Therefore, I believe that the best value is picking Under 2.5 Goals to be scored in the game.
