This is where things get a lot more interesting and, well, precarious. GGS vs. EG might seem like a lopsided mismatch, but it’s actually going to be a lot closer than most folks expect. The gap between them is neither big nor insurmountable, and the fact that they’re tied in the standings only further complicates things. As far as predictions go, this game is an absolute nightmare. There’s really no other way to say it.
On the side, we have a team stacked with exceptional players, but also a team that hasn’t been nearly as impressive and consistent as we thought it’d be. On the other, a line-up that has “gatekeeper” written all over it. Still, you wouldn’t be able to tell based on the zest and zeal with which they compete.
The boys in black and orange have done way better than anyone thought they would, and for that, they deserve our utmost praise and respect. They’re not going to upending the LCS status quo any time soon (or ever, really), but they could throw a wrench in someone else’s plans and shake up the playoffs picture quite a bit.
For GGS, this is essentially a “do or die” kind of game. They have Team Liquid on Friday and Immortals on Sunday, and for them to make the playoffs cut they’ll have to win at least two of those games. They probably won’t be able to best Team Liquid (barring any unforeseen twist), which means that a win over EG will be imperative for them to lock down a ticket for the postseason.
Will they thrive amidst such challenging circumstances or, conversely, implode beneath the pressure? They’re a truly streaky bunch so making any kind of prediction feels nigh impossible, but we’re not overly optimistic about their chances given whom they have to face.
A few solid wins are by no means enough for us to board any kind of “hype train,” although we’re certainly wary of a potential upset.

Evil Geniuses are by no means the epitome of consistency, so a win here is far from guaranteed. They’re better across the board and have more tools to work with, but that doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily be able to get the job done.
Needless to say, this game will be decided by extremely slim margins. It’ll be hectic and packed with action, and in that chaos we expect EG to thrive and be a bit more successful than their upcoming opponents. But, in all fairness, it could really go either way, so if you’re feeling adventurous, betting on GGS might be the way to go.
