2022 LCS Spring Split Betting | TL vs. EG Predictions & Match Analysis

TL vs. EG is a match-up worthy of our undivided attention; predictions will surely lean towards the boys in white and blue, but EG are not to be trifled with and are, by all means, a veritable threat.

Granted, they did lose to TL every single time they fought thus far — four times, to be more exact — but most of those games were incredibly close and they could’ve gone either way. These two teams are separated by very slim margins, and even though TL are better, the gap between them is by no means gargantuan or insurmountable — nothing that a few weeks of good practice can’t fix and narrow.

That, however, is nothing something you’d be able to glean by looking at the standings: Team Liquid are tied for first with Cloud9 and have accrued a whopping nine wins thus far. Evil Geniuses, on the other hand, don’t even have a .500 record — their 5W-6L tally doesn’t seem all that promising.

Fortunately, they’re head and shoulders better than their rank would imply. They’re struggling, is all, but we’ve seen their highs and we were not left indifferent. It is, therefore, only a matter of time before they start climbing the ranks.

If things go “according to plan,” they will end the regular portion of the split with a 10W-8L record. That’s… commendable, if a bit underwhelming.

More importantly, we’re not quite certain if it’ll be enough for them to secure a spot in the Top 4. They could, therefore, find themselves in the lower half of the playoffs bracket — a very disadvantageous position, one that is as unforgiving as it gets.

Be that as it may, it’s still not time to sound the alarms, even though we are, in all fairness, a bit baffled by their sudden and most unexpected regression. We’re quite optimistic about their chances, but we’re also wary and kind of afraid of what might happen further down the road — they’re far too inconsistent for our liking.

And, well, they’ll have their “hands full” with the former four-time LCS champions — they’re one of the best and most capable teams in North America right now and are rightfully deemed as the favorites coming into this high-profile clash.

Team Liquid — A Cut Above

With all of that being said, they’re not as consistent as we thought they’d be at this point of the split. They’re still prone to making egregious mistakes, and if you need proof then look no further than their game against Immortals — they were mere seconds away from losing.

They did win, granted, but it was a bit too close for comfort; they’ll definitely need to clean their play up if they want to stand a chance against Cloud9 further down the line.

With all of that said, their highs have been astounding, and their 9W-2L record speaks volumes as well. They’ve dropped just two games across a five-week period, and they’ve won LCS Lock-In as well, so it’d be nigh impossible for us not to consider them as the absolute favorites to win at least one split this year.

They’re flexible, creative, and a fair bit more aggressive than one would expect. Gone are the days of TL being timid and macro-oriented — now they’ve combined the best all worlds, and it’s hard to really fault them for anything specific. They can play a myriad of styles and are incredibly proficient at basically all of them.

Evil Geniuses do pose a threat, but there’s still a gap between them and TL — and it’s been like that since the very start of 2022. We wouldn’t go so far as to say that the former champs have EG’s “number,” but they do know how to play around their biggest strengths and have thus far been able to neutralize whatever EG wanted to do.

Which, frankly, is no small feat. EG might be struggling a bit, but they’re still exceptionally talented and should by no means be underestimated. How high they’ll be able to soar remains to be seen, but if they can shore up their most egregious flaws and mount an offensive, they’ll no doubt be able to leave a mark once all is said and done.

2022 LCS Betting | TL vs. EG Predictions — Reasons to Watch

These are some of the best and most stacked teams the LCS has to offer. It’s an absolute must watch, in other words. Everyone thinks that Team Liquid will end up victorious, but that outcome is by no means set in stone — they’ll have to fight tooth and nail to get the “W.”

Still, it’d be ludicrous of us to bet against after all the great things they’ve accomplished. It feels like there’s no “safe bet” in the LCS these days, but Team Liquid have almost always found a way to win, so they’re about as “safe” a pick as it gets.

In any case, a hectic, skirmish-heavy affair is all but guaranteed! Team Liquid might not be the most commanding team around — nor has their execution been particularly impressive — but they still have talent and mechanics for days and should, by all means, be able to get away with the win.
