2022 LCS Spring Split Playoffs Betting | TL vs. 100 Thieves Predictions & Match Analysis

TL vs. 100 Thieves is a spectacle through and through; predictions for it, however, will surely be all over the place and, well, it’s easy to understand why. We have two of the biggest frontrunners to win the split, both of which are stacked with some of the very best players that North America has to offer.

What’s not to like? This really is as good as it gets, so make sure to prepare inordinate amounts of popcorn and clear out your schedule as you do not want to miss any of the action!

With all of that being said, predicting the outcome of this particular Best of 5 is pretty much a nightmarish endeavor. There’s really no other way to put it. Both teams have a shot at emerging victorious, which makes our job a lot more complicated than we’d live.

The way in which 100 Thieves “disposed” of Cloud9 has left no one indifferent. It was the biggest, most lopsided shellacking of 2022, and it still lingers in the back of our minds. It wasn’t even remotely close, but one also has to wonder: was it that one-sided because of 100 Thieves upping their game or, conversely, because of Cloud9 imploding beyond measure?

There’s still no definitive answer in sight and, to make things even more complicated, both scenarios are totally possible.

Another big complication is the fact that Team Liquid struggled to beat Evil Geniuses. That one really took us all by surprise. And, frankly, we’re still not quite sure how to process it. They were the better team (hence the result), but they were by no means as dominant or commanding as we thought they’d be — or as they should’ve been, rather.

How does one interpret it all? Was it just a one-off thing, a brief moment of weakness? Or, perhaps, a sign of the things to come? We haven’t the foggiest idea, but it wasn’t a good look, that’s for sure.

2022 LCS Playoffs Betting | TL vs. 100 Thieves Predictions — Reasons to Watch

The most appropriate way for us to describe this particular Best of 5 would be to label it as a “clash of titans.” It sounds overly theatrical, we know, but by no means is it incorrect. These two are the very best teams in North America and they’re also separated by the slimmest of margins.

That’s why it’s so hard to pick one over the other.

There are simply too many question marks lingering in the air, too many doubts and uncertainties for us to feel even remotely confident in making any kind of prediction. The one thing that really took us all by surprise is the ferocity and zest with which 100 Thieves bounced back.

We knew they’d reach “operating temperature” at some point, but even the most optimistic among us couldn’t have predicted such a tremendous turnaround. It boggles the mind, really. They went from being a flawed, inconsistent contender to the de facto most dangerous team in North America — and it all happened seemingly overnight.

Team Liquid, on the other hand, sort of regressed. Not by much, granted, but they’re still a bit rough around the edges, and their play does, at times, leave something to be desired.

Whenever they’re “on” they’re undoubtedly a capable, towering giant of unparalleled strength and potential, but their highs aren’t always on display, for whatever reason. They “took care” of Evil Geniuses, but 100 Thieves will no doubt present a far more dangerous challenge — they’re ten times more cohesive, layered, flexible.

They’re the defending LCS champions, after all, and that still means something. Then again, if ever there was a team that was versatile and experienced enough to not only push 100 Thieves to the brink of defeat but even win, it’s this version of Team Liquid.

That’s why we’re all so uncertain as to who’ll come out ahead in this one. Both teams have a shot, and it’s a five-game series, too — they’ll have more than enough time to “feel each other out” and find their footing.

2022 LCS Playoffs Betting | TL vs. 100 Thieves Predictions — Potential Risks

We don’t remember the last time we had such an even match-up. This one will go the five-game distance — there’s no doubt about it. How could it not, after all?

Team Liquid might be more versatile (especially in the mid and top lane), but they don’t have as much momentum. Then again, maybe that’s not as important as it seems? Both teams have had a whopping two weeks to work on their flaws and come up with a viable game plan.

That’s more than enough time to prepare for just a single opponent, and both 100 Thieves and Team Liquid have surely harnessed this lengthy break to great effect.

So, who’ll come out on top? It’s a toss-up, really; there’s no other way to say it. We’ll side with 100 Thieves as they’ve been a fair bit more impressive lately — and because they have the superior jungler — but it could really go either way.
