100 vs GG is actually a lot more interesting than it might seem at first glance; it’s not going to light the world on fire — or even come close to it — but it will entertain the masses and, hopefully, give us something to talk about and dissect immediately afterwards.
Their sole defeat thus far came at the hands of the incumbent champions Evil Geniuses which is an indication that there’s still a “tangible” difference (or gap) between them. It might not be insurmountable, but it does exist, and it might end up being the difference-maker further down the line.
They had more than enough time to prepare a strategy and take down Evil Geniuses upon their return to North American soil. They even took a break which is a luxury the defending champions simply didn’t have.
And yet none of it mattered as Evil Geniuses came out swinging; they were as dangerous and capable as ever, and there was very little 100 Thieves could do about it.
100 vs GG Predictions — Not on the Same Level
With all of that being said, 100 Thieves are still amongst the best and most competent teams in North America — they’re just not as good as Evil Geniuses, is all. We also know they’re motivated beyond measure and want to reclaim their throne as soon as humanly possible.
Whether they’ll succeed in their efforts still remains to be seen, but they are not to be trifled with whatsoever.
They’re still a playoff contender, but they probably won’t be able to leave much of a mark once everything is said and done. Their games are still mighty exciting, though, so do make sure to tune in whenever you get the chance as they rarely disappoint from a gameplay perspective.
In any case, betting on the former LCS champions seems to be the only logical option here. They’re not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but only a select few teams are good enough to exploit their flaws and deficiencies, and the Golden Guardians — talented though they are — simply don’t fit the bill.
