2022 LEC Summer Split Betting | RGE vs. G2 Predictions & Match Analysis

Predictions for RGE vs. G2 will surely be all over the place and, well, it’s easy to understand why. We have the incumbent champions on the one side and one of the very best teams the LEC has to offer on the other.

What’s not to like?

Now, G2 are the better team. There’s no doubt about it, but their biggest strengths only come to the fore in a Best of 5 setting. Whenever they compete in a double round-robin they tend to fumble and fail and experiment beyond measure.

Rogue are sort of the exact opposite. They shine bright during the entirety of the regular season and then implode for one reason or another once the playoffs come around.

And so, with that in mind, saying who’ll come out on top here feels rather impossible.

Both teams have about an equal shot at getting their hands raised and there are also numerous factors that make our job a living nightmare.

First of all, we have the ever-changing meta: no one’s all too sure of what the best and most optimal way of playing the game is. The “status quo” so to speak has changed quite a bit because of patch 12.10 and, needless to say, everyone’s still reeling from the many durability adjustments that Riot has implemented.

We also have the fact that G2 haven’t had any time to recuperate and take a breather — it’s been one high-profile game after another, both in Berlin and over in Busan, South Korea. This, too, is bound to affect their performance, at least early on.

They know they don’t have to tryhard and will probably compete on “auto pilot” for the first few weeks which is bound to result in a few losses. That is both normal and justified, but it does complicate things on our end.

2022 LEC Summer Betting | RGE vs. G2 Predictions — Reasons to Watch

This is one of those games where our heart and mind diverge in opinion. If we were to ignore all outside factors and observe this particular game in a vacuum, then betting on G2 Esports would be the only logical option.

But the things we talked about — the meta shift, the exhaustion, and so on — are bound to leave a much bigger mark on the defending champions than the odds would imply. These are the intangibles, the things seldom talked about and yet they’re of paramount importance.

Rogue have already beaten G2 many a time during the regular season and their line-up is also one of immense strength and potential. They’ve also had a lot more time to recuperate and prepare for the forthcoming split. That is a luxury the defending champions never really have.

Plus, we know that G2 prefer to improvise and experiment at the most random of moments. There’s no real reason for them to tryhard right from the very get-go — the split is long and arduous and they know it, too.

It is a marathon, not a split.

Be that as it may, we couldn’t possibly bet against them after all that they’ve done and accomplished. They’ve passed each and every single test with flying colors and it feels like they have Rogue’s number as well.

And so unless the boys in blue evolved during the off-season — which, by the way, is by no means impossible — they probably won’t be able to go blow for blow with G2. They will make things highly competitive, but we doubt they’ll be able to go the “whole nine yards.”
