EG vs. G2 is what nightmares are made of; predictions for this particular clash will surely be all over the place and, well, it’s easy to understand why. We’ve seen this particular match-up play out many a time over the last few weeks, and we can — with ample confidence — say that the LEC champions are head and shoulders better than their North American adversaries.
It is an “obvious” statement, one rooted in fact and ample empirical evidence.
But despite us having such a lopsided sample size, we’re somewhat wary of an upset happening, what with G2 Esports imploding beyond measure. It’s unlikely, granted, but still very much possible given the current state of affairs.
Why that’s so and who’s to blame still remains to be seen, but it’s not a good look for a team that made such tremendous waves just a few days ago. They went from being deemed as the biggest frontrunner to win this year’s Mid-Season Invitational to losing four games in a row.
From rags to riches and then back again.
G2’s trajectory has thus far been wholly confusing, and it’s impossible not to wonder: have they been “figured out?” Or is there some other explanation — the likes of which we cannot fully grasp and comprehend at this point in time?
EG vs. G2 — A Dangerous Game to Bet On
These two teams, by the looks of it, are neck and neck in terms of current power level and overall ability to compete at the second biggest stage the world of competitive League has to offer. We don’t care who’s the better team in the grand scheme of things, but rather who’s playing at their best right now.
The answer to that question is rather simple: it’s Evil Geniuses.
All of that being said, we do think G2 will come out on top; they’ve already beaten the LCS champions a whopping five times in a row, so they seem to have their “number.” Or at least that’s what we hope is the case.
One thing’s for certain: it’ll be a clash worthy of tuning in to!
