There are only two Best of 5s left to be played in the 2021 LEC Spring Split playoffs and, needless to say, both of them are brimming with potential!

To start things off, we have G2 Esports vs. Rogue — a momentous clash that’ll surely deliver in all the right ways. Plus, as far as predictions go, it seems like a fairly easy match to predict.
And, frankly, we’re putting it mildly here.
G2 Esports vs. Rogue Predictions
On paper, this is a match that simply has to go G2’s way. After all, they’ve managed to find a way to win on so many different occasions in the past — what’s stopping them from doing the same yet again? G2 has an insane amount of clout built up and, well, they’ve earned it. They can seemingly “bend” the rules of the game at will, and claw their way back from the very precipice of defeat.
But their most recent clash against MAD Lions gave us a look at a slightly different shade of G2 — one that was far less aggressive and cohesive. It didn’t take long before they took to social media to talk about what went awry and how they plan on shoring up some of their most glaring weaknesses. And, well, they didn’t have much positive to say.
They’re slumping and they know it. They’ve misread the meta, they’ve been losing scrims more often than they’d like, and they’ve been underperforming on an individual level as well. There’s just not a whole lot to commend them for. This was the first time in a while that their vast experience and veterancy weren’t enough to salvage a sinking ship.
Watching a slumping G2 is like seeing a beastly supercar stuck in traffic.
And sure, they have all the right tools in their arsenal to mount a comeback and make both Rogue and MAD Lions look like a bunch of scrubs, but they might not have enough time to fix what needs fixing. We’re talking about issues that are by no means skin-deep.
A Shot at Redemption
Rogue are pretty much in the exact same position as G2. Although, to be fair, if they were to lose on Saturday no one would be overly surprised. Still, the fact that they had lost to MAD in 1-3 fashion — and are deemed as the underdogs against the defending champions — is indicative of their position in the region.
They are still as capable and dangerous as ever, but Rogue are no strangers to faltering once Best of 5s come around.
We know for a fact that they’re much better than they had shown against MAD Lions, but a lot of credit has to go to the boys in white and gold — they exerted a lot more pressure than Rogue had anticipated. It was by no means a fluke: the better team won on the day.
We’re going to side with the defending LEC champions on this one as it’s the only logical choice. They might not have a ton of momentum right now, but we know how little time they need to bounce back after a dreadful showing. They’re surely motivated to avenge their recent loss and if they put their best foot forward they shouldn’t have too much trouble in taking Rogue down.
That said, expect an insanely competitive affair that will probably be decided by the slimmest of margins.
