Heroic vs. Gambit Predictions

Does Heroic vs. Gambit sound too familiar?

If it does, you’ve probably watched their group stage clash on IEM XV World Championship.

Gambit eliminated Heroic from the competition following a sweep on decider Mirage and went on to lift the trophy.

Since then, Gambit continued with its winning ways. In fact, here’s a whole section dedicated to both teams’ forms:

Gambit are all over the place! They already have two titles this year, one of them being IEM XV World Championship. Here they are again, one match from another majestic accomplishment. All of their hard work is finally paying off, no matter how tomorrow’s clash ends.

Heroic, on the other hand, haven’t been all that special thus far in 2021, but they did have a good third quarter of 2020. Their form dropped a bit, perhaps poised with a couple of unlucky defeats, but it was enough to trigger some roster alterations. In came refrezh and sjuush, rounding off a rather competitive Danish roster.

But, if we’re being totally honest here, it’s a bit silly talking about form when both of these teams are still undefeated on this event. It’s absurd, right? Well, in that spirit, let’s move onto the next section – the map pool!

Map Pool Stats

Gambit doesn’t really have a poor map, apart from Nuke which is their permaban. They’ve been absolutely clinical on Mirage, Train, and Vertigo. Dust 2 and Inferno aren’t spectacular, but they shouldn’t matter that match as Heroic haven’t been that good on them either.

Please Note:
The thing is, Heroic have just three maps they’re consistent on; one of them is Gambit’s permaban, one of them is Vertigo – Gambit’s stronghold. Overpass is the only map Heroic will feel total comfort here… and coming into a Bo5 like that won’t do a lot of good morale-wise.

Individual Aspects

You know how highly I think of sh1ro and ax1le. They’re just on a whole different level right now. They’ve been playing like this since late last year, and even though we all thought it was just a one-time thing, they successfully transitioned their form to 2021 and are still going strong. Of course, one bad match and it’s all gone to waste… but still, I feel they won’t disappoint tomorrow.

Of course, stavn, refrezh and the boys won’t go down without a fight.

They love being the underdogs, they love Cinderella stories… but that doesn’t mean squat in a bo5 grand finals. I have a feeling they’re going to choke. Even if they don’t, the CIS champions ought to be able to close this one out… if not with their sheer clutch potential, then surely with their exceptional map pool depth.

I don’t know, guys… I know the stats aren’t that in favor of Gambit, especially at -196, but I still think it’s the best option here. It’s a best of five scenario and Gambit’s map pool ought to play a key role.

Remember their last head-to-head matchup, Gambit were way too dominant, and I for one wouldn’t be surprised if we see the same thing happen again.

That’s all I had to say, boys and girls! With those words, our Heroic vs. Gambit predictions are all wrapped up.

As always, thanks for reading!
