Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. Astralis Picks | ESL One: Road to Rio EU Betting Predictions

Even though our solid run is already long gone, we won’t let that stop us from giving you the crème de la crème of esports betting picks! We’re moving on with our ESL One: Road to Rio picks with another Scandinavian clash. This time around, we’re focusing on NiP vs. Astralis predictions. The Great Danes up against The Tenacious Swedes. The new NiP roster will have a point to prove against Astralis, but the question is – are they ready?

Sure, at the moment, NiP is at the top of group A following a spell of three consecutive wins.

Vitality, Dignitas, and ENCE were the victims. Will Astralis be the fourth one? Well, all that and more await in my comprehensive NiP vs. Astralis predictions!

But first, let me TikTok this! Jokes aside – before we dig into the picks, let’s check out the current EU Road to Rio standings. Both groups, mind you! Stuff like that is essential for our NiP vs. Astralis predictions, trust me!

ESL One: Road to Rio 2020 | Current EU Standings

Before we go any further, here’s a quick look at the standings:

Group A CSGO Standings Road To Rio

Group B CSGO Standings Road To Rio

As mentioned already, NiP is at the top of the group with three consecutive wins. The Swedish side is followed by the biggest surprise of the group, Team Heretics, with brilliant three wins and one loss. Astralis’ blunder against Fnatic keeps them struggling in the third place, with a win being imperative against Ninjas in Pyjamas. Yep, a second loss for Astralis would mean they have to win against Heretics, Dignitas, and ENCE for a chance to reach the upper bracket. While that’s not an impossible scenario in and of itself, I still reckon Device and the boys will do everything they can to climb to 3-1.

FaZe Clan has evolved into the dominant force in group B. G2 Esports, Movistar Riders, and GODSENT share the second spot with 2-1 scores. Feel free to check out our comprehensive Movistar Riders vs. G2 betting predictions if you’re interested in mor hot ESL One: Road to Rio picks. Back to group B – Mousesports is definitely the biggest disappointment thus far. They’ll have to do their best to keep in the competition and at least qualify for the lower bracket.

NiP vs. Astralis Predictions

Coming into this match, Astralis is the obvious favorite! Even though HLTV.org World Ranking has Astralis at the third spot (below Fnatic and NaVi),  I reckon Device and the boys are just starting to warm up. Device and Magisk have been Astralis’ best players throughout the last month or so… and I reckon we’ll see more of the same tomorrow. NiP, on the other hand, continues to rely on REZ and nawwk, but I reckon that won’t mean a ton if Lekr0 and twist fail to show up.

The question is, how much time is NiP going to take to analyze Astralis’ tactics ahead of this match? Better yet – what sort of a tactical approach will zonic bring to the team meeting ahead of the match?

Well, knowing THREAT’s tactical prowess and the ways in which he led his team thus far, I reckon NiP will definitely invest a lot of time preparing for this match.

With all that in mind, let’s turn our attention to NiP vs. Astralis predictions!

The Scandinavian Thriller

Lately, NiP and Astralis haven’t played all that many head to head matches. Prior to 2019, they had a massive number of clashes each year. 2019, however, saw them go up against each other just eight times. 2020, thus far – only a single match. It happened last month during the ESL Pro League S11 EU. NiP defeated Astralis, winning on both Vertigo and Overpass. It was a pretty bleak performance by The Great Danes… one they probably won’t repeat tomorrow!

Stats and info on both ends are canceling each other out. For instance, NiP is in far greater form and won the last head to head matchup, but Astralis is overall much more consistent, have superior map pool, are individually better, and need to win the match to stay in the upper bracket battle. Yep, this match has all the makings of a classic Scandinavian thriller.

Cementing the Picks

It’s time to wrap everything up and cement the picks!

Obviously, even though NiP is in vastly better form, Astralis is the favorite side coming into this one.

At the moment, a simple Astralis match-winner is at -278. It puts the Great Danes in a dominant position, and rightly so, if I may add.

Yes, NiP is on a three-match winning spree, but the likes of ENCE and Dignitas can’t really be put into the same basket as the best teams in the world… which Astralis definitely is.

In essence, Astralis is going to be NiP’s first real test on the event.

Even though the Swedes are up 3-0, they might still struggle to get the upper bracket spot if they lose against Astralis tomorrow.

Astralis to win at -278 is the wager I’m going with for this one. Yes, the odds won’t blow you away, but they are still decent enough for both singles and accumulators. If you want more risk, explore correct score options, although knowing the map pools of both teams, I wouldn’t traverse to that territory.

Wrapping Things Up

I’m afraid that’s it as far as our NiP vs. Astralis predictions are concerned! As you’d come to expect, this is going to be a thrilling match from start to finish. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to the third map. In fact, I wanted to play the good old total maps over 2.5 card here… but considering just how many losses it has caused since the start of this event, I opted against it.

I know you’ll understand…

That’s it – thank you all for reading!

Until next time,

Stay safe!

My Pick
ASTRALIS to Win!
-278
