Team SoloMid vs. 100 Thieves Predictions | 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown

Team SoloMid vs. 100 Thieves is by no means the most exciting Best of 5 of the weekend, but it’s still bound to deliver, despite not being all that important in the grand scheme of things.

Plus, as far as predictions go, this is a fairly “easy” one to make, so it’s a win-win kind of deal!

The 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown is coming along nicely, and there are only a handful of Best of 5s left to be played before the first North American champions of 2021 are crowned! So, if you’re a fan of the LCS and its many peculiar challengers — four of which are still competing — then you definitely have a reason to tune in.

Team SoloMid vs. 100 Thieves Predictions

To start things off, Team Liquid and Cloud9 will first take the stage and compete in what we can only assume will go down as one of the most even and competitive Best of 5s in history. Then, just a day later, Team SoloMid and 100 Thieves will do the same, although their clash — exciting though it is — simply pales in comparison.

We’re talking about a skirmish between two severely flawed teams from the lower half of the playoffs bracket. That, in short, doesn’t really get the blood pumping. Heck, we’re putting it mildly here. Still, they’re packed with talent and more than just a couple of seasoned veterans, most of which are still at the top of their game.

Plus, we know for a fact that both line-ups are motivated beyond belief and will try their hardest to leave a mark in the grand scheme of things. Unfortunately, only one of them will advance further into the playoffs bracket. And, by the looks of it, Team SoloMid are everyone’s favorites and with good reason; they are all but guaranteed to get their “hands raised.” Still, that doesn’t mean 100 Thieves will just roll over and surrender.

-On the contrary!

They have all the right tools to go the five-game distance and are deceptively dangerous, especially when they prepare well and execute to a tee. Those days aren’t all that frequent, unfortunately, but they do occur from time to time, and Team SoloMid would be wise not to underestimate them.

A Most Exciting Mid-Season Showdown

Whenever Team SoloMid fumble, they always tend to bounce back in grand fashion. Heck, we’re putting it mildly here — they come back with a vengeance. This Mid-Season Showdown has been no exception in that regard. After getting annihilated by Team Liquid, a lot of folks didn’t think TSM had it in them to mount a comeback.

But that’s when TSM plays best — when their backs are against the wall and everyone’s doubting them.

And sure enough, they made Evil Geniuses look like a bunch of solo queue randoms. Whenever TSM puts their best foot forward and executes as well as they can, they can definitely tango with the best teams in the region — namely Team Liquid and Cloud9. When that fails to be the case (for whatever reason), they’re a fairly negligible obstacle in the road — one that can easily be overcome and dealt with.

The only issue is that we seldom know when they’ll deliver and when they’ll implode.

Heck, it seems like they don’t know it either; it really depends on the day, and it matters very little whom they’re up against as they tend to be their own worst enemies.

Fortunately for the boys in black and white, 100 Thieves are pretty much a shadow of their former selves.

Please Note:
They’re not abysmal, mind you, but they lack the aggression and impetus which graced the 100 Thieves that competed in the first-ever LCS Lock-In back in January. What exactly went awry and why they regressed so darn much in such a short period of time is anyone’s guess at this point, but they’re just not good enough to compete on even footing with the three teams ranked above them.

That said, they will definitely give TSM a run for their money. Of that you can be certain, and they might even go the five-game distance, although that’ll heavily depend on how TSM decides to draft and which players get the most agency. Either way, a fun, skirmish-heavy Best of 5 is all but guaranteed!
