Buccaneers Cardinals Spread Line and Betting Predictions

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers take their talents to the Midwest this week as they take on the Arizona Cardinals. The Bucs are coming off a big come from behind win against the Rams last week, while the Cards look to bounce back from a subpar performance in Seattle, which they lost 22-10. The game kicks off at 4:15 p.m. EST.

The Cardinals are 2-0 at home this year, while the Bucs are 2-0 on the road. The team that can protect the football better will win this game. For the Bucs, Josh Freeman is developing as a very good quarterback, but his accuracy will have to be better this week than it has in previous weeks. His completion percentage is well under 60%, and we saw what the opportunistic Arizona secondary did against Drew Brees in week 5. The Bucs are below average in rushing yards, but they welcome a change this week with LeGarrette Blount taking over the majority of carries from the so far ineffective Carnell Williams. Cadillac has averaged a meager 2.3 yards per carry this year, and Blount had a nice game last week with 11 carries for 72 yards. Tampa are a well coached team who won’t make plays of the week on a regular basis, but they’re 4-2 and have shown they can play in some tough games.

The Cardinals return home this week, and they couldn’t be happier. They were no match for the Seahawks last week. QB Max Hall played awful and his stat line shows it. He got the hook in favor of Derek Anderson, and finished 4/16 for 36 yards and an INT. This week they’ll look to run the ball versus a Bucs run D that gives up over 150 yards per game, second worst in the league. RB Beanie Wells is back to 100% after an early season injury, and at home in front of what should be an energetic Phoenix crowd, the Cards can win this game.

Buccaneers vs. Cardinals Prediction for Week 8 Betting:

Spread Prediction (Top Play): The Cardinals are a far better team at home than they are on the road, and this week is a perfect situation for a bounce back after a divisional loss last week to the Seahawks. The key to the Cards in this game will be their running game. Beanie Wells has yet to break out this year, but the Bucs don’t play the run well, and Wells should have a very good day on Sunday. QB Max Hall will get the start again, but he doesn’t have to be better than good against Tampa. The Bucs defense is giving up over 350 yards per game, and last week they were as good as dead before a last minute game winning drive by Freeman. The Cardinals need this one more, and I think the situation with them being at home will play a big factor.

Prediction = Cardinals -3

Game Total Prediction (Top Play): This game reminds me a lot of the San Fran/Carolina game from last week that had a similar number in the over under. I had the Over as my top play, and said that both offenses were good enough to hit the over if they executed. The same applies here. Both teams have the talent, they just haven’t executed well enough, and both defenses are playing at a low level that will allow the offenses to click this week. With the likes of Larry Fitzgerald and Mike Williams on the receiving ends, they’ll be plenty of points to go around on Sunday.

Prediction = Over 39
