One of the Thursday night (7:30pm ET) matchups this week features the FCS Georgia State Panthers (6-4) led by former Alabama head coach Bill Curry take on the number 10-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (8-2) in Tuscaloosa, AL. The Crimson Tide will not be making a return trip to the SEC or BCS National Championship games this season, but they still have a shot to finish strong and make it to a BCS bowl game. To do that they will need to take care of business this week against Georgia St. and next week against arch rival and number 2-ranked Auburn. The Tide can ruin the Tiger’s National Title hopes and would certainly like nothing more than to do so.
Georgia St. brings a quality FCS team into Tuscaloosa, led by a quality head coach in the veteran Curry. That said, the Panthers do not stand much of a chance here against the defending National Champions and they know it. They are coming off of a 23-17 win over Lamar on November 6, but the jump in terms of level of competition will be steep on Thursday night. Quarterback Drew Little leads the Panthers on offense and has compiled 2,033 passing yards and 18 TDs on the season.
The Crimson Tide has been dominant in Bryant-Denny Stadium this season, outscoring opponents by a combined total of 156-32. The Tide is strong on both defense and offense, and the defense leads the nation in interceptions with 17. Little and company will not have a great deal of success through the air, and their lack of size up front against Tide defensive stalwarts such as defensive end Marcell Dareus. In the Tide’s 30-10 victory over then-number 17 Mississippi St. last Saturday senior QB Greg McElroy threw for 227 yards and 2 TDs and the Tide ran for 175 yards as well. Alabama expects to have running back Trent Richardson back this week after he sat out last week.
Alabama has won 19 in a row at home, the last loss coming to Louisiana-Monroe in 2007, so there is some precedent for the small school upset.

Georgia State vs. Alabama Prediction for Week 12 Thursday Game:
Spread Prediction (Top Play) – Alabama will roll in this game, clearly a mismatch and a tune-up for the Crimson Tide before their showdown against Auburn next week in the Iron Bowl. Very few sites or casinos have the lien posted, but if you can find someone to take your action lay the 55.5 points all day long because the number 10 team in the country is easily 55+ points better than a mediocre FCS school at home.
