The Over is 4-0-1 in the Cardinals’ last 5 games overall, 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record and 5-2 in their last 7 bowl games.
Louisville has an advantage not just with their top-10 ranked defense, but also because defensive coordinator Todd Grantham served as the DC under Georgia coach Mark Richt from 2010-13, so he knows the Bulldogs’ offense and personnel very well. Louisville had the 3rd best rushing defense in the country with 93.7 YPG allowed, and the secondary tied for 1st nationally with 25 interceptions. Their best player offensively was wide receiver DeVante Parker, who had 35 catches for 735 yards and 5 TDs despite missing 7 games with a toe injury.
The Bulldogs are playing in their 50th bowl game as a program and won 8 of their final 10 games to reach the Belk Bowl. Freshman running back Nick Chubb replaced star Todd Gurley after he suffered a knee injury in October and won the SEC Freshman of the Year award. He ran for at least 100 yards and a touchdown in each of his 7 starts. Their formula is running the football regardless of who is in the backfield, they ran for an SEC bst 35 rushing TDs this season.
The Bulldogs are a disciplined team, finishing the regular season with a +15 turnover differential, 4th best among FBS teams. These two teams both have been excellent against the spread, especially against teams from the conference that they will be opposing in this game. The Cardinals have played every team on their schedule tough this season, the only team to defeat them by more than a touchdown this season was undefeated Florida St. and the Seminoles pulled away late to win that one. Their defenses should keep them in the game against a Georgia team that does not have the tpye of offenses that can pile up points via the passing game. Take Louisville and the points here.
