Week six of the 2015 college football season has a full slate of excellent conference matchups, and in the SEC there are quality pairings every week with very few easy marks among the ranks. The 19th ranked Georgia Bulldogs (4-1) travel to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN to take on the host Tennessee Volunteers (2-3) in an afternoon (3:30 pm ET) affair.
Georgia rolled to a 4-0 start with wins over Vanderbilt (31-14) on the road and South Carolina (52-20) at home in conference play before coming back to earth last week with 39-10 thrashing at the hands of Alabama at home that brought them back to earth. Georgia’s offense is built around standout running back Nick Chubb – who has rushed for 100 yards in 13 consecutive games. Last week the Bulldogs four turnovers and never got on track offensively against Alabama, quarterback Greyson Lambert, who was outstanding through the first 4 games, fell apart last week with only 86 yards passing and an interception that was returned for a score. He will need to take better care of the ball on the road this week, and the Bulldogs cannot afford a loss if they hope to have a chance to win the SEC East.

Tennessee opened their campaign with a 59-30 win over Bowling Green at home, and their other win came in week 3 over Western Carolina (55-10) also at home. They have lost to all quality teams in Oklahoma (31-24), Florida (28-27) and Arkansas (24-20) in games that they easily could have won. The Volunteers were unable to hold 4th quarter leads to Oklahoma and Florida, then blew a 14-point advantage last week against Arkansas.

The Volunteers are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games against winning teams, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games and 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 home games against a team with a winning road record. The over is 14-6 in the Bulldogs last 20 SEC games, 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games on grass and 12-4 in their last 16 games following a straight up loss. The over is 5-2-1 in Tennessee’s last 8 home games, 7-3-1 in their last 11 games overall and 7-2-1 in their last 10 games on grass. In head-to-head play, the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between the two teams and 5-2-1 in their last 8 meetings in Knoxville. The underdog is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings.
Georgia looked strong through the first 4 games, but they were humbled by Alabama last week as many teams have been over the years. Lamber should play better this week, and Chubb is as consistent as they come on the ground, so the Bulldogs should score points. Tennessee has not had a problem building leads, their issue has been holding them. With the trends for both teams and in the series strongly pointing toward the over, and both teams looking strong on offense, the smart play here is to take the over.
