Suddenly, the Giants look vulnerable, particularly with a wounded offensive line, while the Eagles are explosive with Michael Vick at the helm. Vick’s elusiveness will help against the fearsome pass rush of the G-Men. First place in the NFC East is on the line when the (6-3) Philadelphia Eagles and the Philly faithful host the reeling (6-3) New York Giants in a primetime affair on Sunday night, kickoff slated for 8:20 PM EST. The Eagles can rise to first in the division with a win. The Giants will look to re-establish the power run game. Vick is the most exciting player in football. Let’s hope the lights manage to stay on at The Linc.
The Giants were thoroughly humbled by a desperate Cowboys team last Sunday afternoon and need to get back on track this week in order to preserve first place in the NFC East. New York resigned WR Derek Hagan this week to replace Ramses Barden, who broke his ankle in last week’s loss to Dallas. The Giants will also be without WR Steve Smith for this game after he tore a muscle in his chest last week as well. the top-rated defense in the NFL, allowing 270.2 yards per game. That unit, though, looked awful last Sunday as it allowed Jon Kitna to throw three touchdowns and Dallas to amass 427 yards in a 33-20 loss that ended New York’s five-game winning streak.

Getting back on track against Vick seems less than ideal. Vick’s last start against the Giants was in 2006 when he was with Atlanta along with current New York linebacker Michael Boley. The Giants have been quarterback Eli Manning’s team for six years. Manning (19 touchdowns), receiver Hakeem Nicks (56 catches, 736 yards, nine touchdowns), running back Ahmad Bradshaw(1,040 yards of offense) and the league’s second-ranked attack are having a fine year except for their penchant for turnovers. New York’s 25 giveaways are one shy of the NFL high, which is great news for a Philadelphia defense which gives up plenty of points but is tied for second with 21 takeaways. For the Giants, the key will be in keeping turnovers to a minimum. Eli Manning has put up some gaudy stats in 2010 but his 13 interceptions, as opposed to 19 touchdowns, puts him into the good but not great category. Against the Eagles they will need him to be error-free because Philadelphia’s secondary knows how to go after the ball.
The Philadelphia Eagles looked like a Madden NFL video game team last Monday night against the Redskins. QB Michael Vick was sensational as he totally dominated the Redskins worst ranked defense. Much has been made about Michael Vicks’ 333 passing yards and four touchdown passes in last Monday night’s 59-28 blowout over Washington, but his most impressive stat was a 71.4 completion percentage. He has completed 62.7 percent of his passes this season which is by far the highest in his career. he Eagles’ quarterback moved to the head of the field in the MVP race after a majestic performance against the Redskins on Monday night. Vick knows he will be under a lot more pressure on Sunday so the key to this game will be how well he fares with less time or space to move. I like his chances of coming up big in this game. The greatest area of improvement for Vick since his comeback has been in his pocket-passing. Provided the Eagles’ offensive line holds up, Vick should be able to do enough to lead Philadelphia to a potent offensive performance. Despite all of his time away from the game, Vick has somehow come back a more accurate passer. He also has more weapons than he’s ever had before. Two deadly speedsters on the outside in DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin plus a reliable tight end in Brent Celek and a playmaker with him in the backfield in LeSean “Shady” McCoy. This offense is pure danger; I wouldn’t want to be the one charged with the task of stopping it. We will all just have to wait until tonight to see how Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell deals with The Flying Vicks. I suspect he’ll try to get after Vick with the pass rush and probably double cover Jackson. McCoy isn’t that concerning in the running game, but I fear that the Eagles will try to catch the NYG over pursuing and call some screens to Shady.
The key for the Giants will be the play of the linebackers. First year starting middle linebacker Jonathan Goff will need to step up and have a big game. He’ll be charged with the responsibility of getting everyone in position and making sure they maintain their gap assignments. Michael Boley, the team’s fastest linebacker, will need to be all over the field chasing down Vick and McCoy. The NYG defense may not be able to completely shut down the high powered Eagles offense, but they surely can slow them down.

Giants vs Eagles Predictions for Week 11:
Spread Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Both the Giants and Eagles have the feel of playoff teams so this game won’t decide anything long-term, but it will give the loser more motivation for what could be a division-deciding rematch in Week 15 at Big Blue’s new place. The Giants are 4-1 ATS in their last five games played in Philadelphia. The road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six games in this series and the underdog is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 games. I expect the Giants defense front will be able to get back to their dominant ways and should be able to contain the shifty quarterback. It is also important to remember that the Giants are well suited to travel as they have gone 17-8 SU in their last 25 games on the road. On the other hand, Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home. The Giants have the offensive weapons to get into an offensive dual with the Eagles and they also have the defensive strength and swagger to limit the Eagles. We will consider the Giants keeping this one close in a winner take all clash.
Game Total Prediction – With the performance Vick exhibited last Monday night and the potential of the Giants offense one would be hard pressed to side with the UNDER. The Eagles offense, led by Vick, may very well be the most feared unit that this league has scene in some time. The total has gone OVER in 5 of Philadelphia’s last 5 games. They are putting points up at will against some of the better defenses in the league. The total has gone OVER in eight of the last 12 games played in Philadelphia. The Giants are also no stranger this season to burning out a few lights on the scoreboard. The total has gone OVER in 4 of the NY Giants last 5 games and when coming off a loss to divisional rival they have responded the next week and those games have scene the total reach the OVER 82% of the time since 2001. Take a strong look at the OVER in this primetime affair on Sunday night. Cheers!
