There isn’t a name for the rivalry. But, they might as well refer to it as pure hatred. When the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes get together, all bets are off when it comes to the fans. But, on the field is where it really matters and the Buckeyes will look to keep up their fantastic streak alive. The streak is at six consecutive for the Buckeyes but 8 of the last 9 and not a single Michigan win in Columbus since 2000 surely has the Wolverine blood boiling. A win and Ohio State is all but guaranteed another BCS berth somewhere. Michigan, unlike last year, will be going bowling this year and a win could go a long way into getting them into a New Year’s Day bowl.
For the Wolverines, the Rich Rodriguez experiment is slowly starting to grind out positive results. Things were so bad last year that message boards were rife with talk that he’d be fired or couldn’t handle the pressures of coaching Michigan. Fast-forward 11 months and Wolverine fans are certain he is the man to lead them forward. A large part of this change of sentiment is Denard Robinson. The Floridian-born Michigan signal-caller has been outstanding this year. Whether with his arms or legs, he’s the main reason the Michigan offense is ranked 5th in the country at 514.5 yards per game. The large majority of his work comes from his legs and he’s the key to Michigan’s 10th rated rushing attack. But, things won’t be easy as he’ll be going up against arguably the best defense in the country.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have some eye-opening defensive statistics to backup their on-field play. Consider, the Buckeyes rank in the top five in the following: Total yardage (3rd), pass defense (5th), rush defense (3rd), scoring defense (5th). With that, don’t expect Michigan to do what they have done to some of their conference opponents when they have the ball. Michigan might even need to punt the ball a few times. That said, the game will come down to two big story lines: How will Michigan fare against the Buckeyes outstanding defense? And, how will the Buckeye offense—no slouch of their own— do against one of the country’s worst defenses?

Michigan vs. Ohio State Prediction for Week 13:
Spread Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Ohio State won’t continue its dominance over Michigan forever. Their program isn’t that good and Michigan’s isn’t that unlucky. The Buckeyes though, currently, have better players and better momentum, if not a better coaching staff. More importantly to the proceedings of this game: Ohio State has a similarly effective offense and an outstanding defense. Michigan’s defense has proven time and time again how pathetic they are. That said, look for the Buckeyes to score at will. Only a few defensive stops will be needed as the OSU offense should do enough.
Game Total Prediction –We’re not making it sound as of Michigan has no chance. It’s just the defense is so bad, we can’t see them stopping Ohio State with any sort of regularity. But, Michigan will score a few. Not as much as Ohio State but they’ll be scoring. The Buckeyes will be scoring and with the over 7-1 in Ohio State’s last 8 home games and 11-5 in Michigan’s last 16 games, we think we’ll see some points.
